Something strange with V-Vocal?

Ok... never had this happen before.

 

Melodyne was giving me the no blob situation so I used v-vocal and all was well.

I drag-copied it to another time in same song same track/lane. No envelopes, etc.

The copied gives no sound. Rendering it yields flat line. Removing it returns to original clip.

Th original opens/renders correctly.

This time, Melodyne opend and gave blobs on the un-v-vocaled clip!

 

This is confusing...
