Question

Posted

I'm trying to get names of songs to appear on CDs when burning CDs.  Currently the names just appear at track01, track02, etc. etc.  Tried using Windows (10) Media Player but haven't been successful.  The problem I'm sure is me.  Just can't figure it out.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thx in advance,

Ron

Here is a 2011 blog article with step-by-step instructions to create a CD with CD Text:  https://www.hanselman.com/blog/HowToWriteOrBurnACDCDRThatIncludesCDTextWithImgBurn.aspx

An internet search indicates both Nero and Roxio software programs support the creation of CD Text.  I don't use either program so I can't verify that information.

ImgBurn is a donationware program that supports the feature.  ImgBurn is mentioned in the blog article above.  http://www.imgburn.com/

Yes. I've been doing this for many years using CDArchitecht...

Simply enable burn text to cd and fill in the assorted fields...

AFAIK, unless they've updated the format of CD's lately without me noticing, there's no way of putting the track names on CD's.

What most media players do is query online databases such as freedb.org or CDDB by Gracenote.

When you burn a new CD, it's given a unique serial number. You can go to these sites and provide the info for that CD (most mp3 rippers also provide the ability to submit the album details and  track names during the process of ripping them).

As duplicated CD's all have the same serial number, the media players can pick up the track details from those sites.

If anyone knows of any other way of doing this, I'd love to know!
