I see this in the description: Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition is the highly anticipated expansion to Hollywood Orchestra.

Is this a stand-alone product?

No...it's the New Hollywood Orchestra Opus Diamond Edition.  By expansion they
mean that it has added content, and now uses the "Opus Engine" rather than Play,
and includes the new "Orchestrator" plugin.  It will run in "stand alone" mode...
but it's not just a stand alone

I'm tempted by this.  Is this an unusually good price?  Also I'm just dipping my toe into orchestration, is this overkill?  I have BBC Discovery right now which is nice but feels a little limited.

If you plan on doing more Orchestration it's a very good deal!  I seriously doubt it will ever go any lower than this...

My gripe is that East West basically boned those of us who bought Hollywood Orchestra Diamond.
When this was first released there was ZERO upgrade path.  They finally relented and created an
upgrade a few months later, but things like THAT really make people turn on companies.  It shows the
TRUE LEVEL of their greed, rather than their commitment to their existing customers.
IK fits the mold FAR TOO OFTEN!

Hi Lee, If starting out there's a lot to be said for the Orchestrator itself. Depending on your orchestration knowledge-level you can possibly learn a great deal from it if you are a beginner even more so.

I would also consider conposercloud plus subscription especially if you qualify for the educational discount!
