Starise
I guess the answer is what have users been asking for? That's a tough one. Users ask for a lot of different things.
Kurre
Well, i'm not going to use that daw until i'm allowed to use a vst softsynth with a nonpro version. Without paying extras for it goes without saying. But i'm just saying that. Now it's said.

Now that you've said it - what are you saying? ? do you mean entry level studio one won't let you play vst softsynths? If true, that would suck. If true, that would suck. Yes, that is true. Even the Studio One Artist version that is bundled with some hardware will not allow 3rd party VST support. But there is an add-on package available for purchase to add 3rd party plugin support to Artist, for $79.99. https://shop.presonus.com/studio-one-add-ons/Software-Category--VST-Support https://www.presonus.com/products/Studio-One/compare-versions

But I must admit, having to buy an extra module to get a DAW to support VST's does suck.

One of THE stupidest marketing (o whatever moves) ever IMHO. I almost didn't get it because of that. I'm just REALLY hoping the announcement won't be an announcement for a v5 or something where they want you to pony up for another upgrade... superdan54
I think it will be some sort of announcement regarding hardware integration. But I sincerely hope it's more than just Nektar. The headline stated "you asked for it" and is based on most popular feedback. If that's true, then they will also **hopefully** be announcing Komplete Kontrol integration as well, which is vastly more requested:
Starise
That would be great. I haven't purchased Komplete Kontrol yet. I was waiting to make sure NI was going to support it over the long haul. It appears they will. I'm adding on a studio to my house. It's a slow process. All of that has to happen first. One dastardly marketing move would be to offer the full version of SO4 pro to buyers of their hardware. Buy a Faderport and get the full version along with it, or buy a full version and get two years updates free. They could do something like that. Most DAWs tied into hardware are only the basic versions. If one waits for the periodic sales it isn't much more $ to go the full version. Most companies will offer incentive buys to get you on board if you own their lower versions. I've mostly been the type to buy the full version lest I find myself wanting something in the DAW I don't have. Cakewalks offerings have been fairly complete though and I think I could have made most of my mixes using them. Now it's a no brainer with CbB. Just download it and give yourself time to learn it. I'm not chomping at the bit to find out what Presonus is up to. They had a kind relationship with some Cake crew. I mostly gathered that from"reading between the lines" from several sources. They might know already. I used SO4 for a recent album master and assembly. Hard to beat for that. Until then I hadn't picked it up in a long time. Edited May 16, 2019 by Starise
Royal Yaksman
Presonus have just started selling Cherry Audio in their store, perhaps they have pitched in with some modulation capabilities within Studio One?
Starise
I can only surmise on the things I'm sure it isn't. I'm fairly certain they aren't giving away free puppies with an interface purchase. Edited May 16, 2019 by Starise
