I use to pride myself in creating complex sidechain compression routes until I started recording more and more metal bands, who greatly desire a much higher frequency for that double kick and scooped out bass.

Who would have predicted that metal bands would be very sensitive to low end yet the Beatles wouldn't have much of anything going on in their song without the low end.
