Note Duration Option Keeps Changing

So I want to draw in some 8th notes so I have my options set as follows:

As you see the first notes I draw are exact 8th notes, but then it changes on me for a reason I do not understand:

And if I look up, it shows the setting is now on "1158 ticks"

 

Any help is much appreciated!

I've always thought there might be shortcuts for this but never bothered looking it up.

This is why I still read the forum after 33 years using the Cakewalk PRV.

problem is, my mind is full of hotkey shortcuts, I simply cannot remember anymore.
