PhonoBrainer Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 . . . somebody racked up enough Jam Points? 15
Greg Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 That’s usually the goal. Always felt IK was jacking up numbers by having customers buy the same products multiple times with the various promotions to justify a higher multiple in part due to “registered products”, etc. Would love to be a fly on the wall during due diligence. 1
kevin H Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Here is a more complete article…I don’t speak Italian so agree with Phonobrainer’s conclusion haha https://bebeez.it/private-equity/testa-a-testa-tra-bregal-e-armira-per-le-app-musicali-di-ik-multimedia/ 1
InstrEd Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 So that's why I never got my free Keyboard ? ? 5
mibby Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 This last GB totally jacked up their user count. I was wondering why they were giving away the shop. Fund raising and numbers. I'll bet the original owner gets to keep what's in the bank... 1 2

The article doesn't really say much beyond giving an overview of the various companies portfolios who are in competition to buy IK. One thing I will say. These are investment companies which means they have little interest in the companies they buy. Their only intention will be to buy cheap then grow sales quickly and sell IK on at a profit. It might be good for the consumer in the short term. 2 3
Fleer Posted November 23, 2021 Author Posted November 23, 2021 One is from Germany, the other one from Monaco. Go figure.
telecode 101 Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 (edited) Funky.. I guess that explains the crazy Group Buy all-you-can-eat-IKM buffet. How is this any different than what is happening to NI and iZotope? It's an investment firm involved there as well? Edited November 23, 2021 by telecode 101

It might be good for the consumer in the short term. Unlikely since we all own everything they make. Seriously though, rarely do these things benefit the customer in a field where there is a rush to $0 (software side of the business) and the owner only cares about a return. I'm sure they will take a look at the prices though, I have to imagine sales at "retail" prices are sparce. And IK is big enough and been around long enough that having the investment for the sake of real expansion in the market is a bit unlikely. Will see, certainly want the company to thrive as they have good products with a fair authorization system. 2
cclarry Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Well that certainly explains a lot of what's been going on! 1

stony Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 A boss, who performs a "buy a car, get 24 more for free" Deal for 3 months, must be aware, that his sales after this period will crash for a long period of time. So the news are not very surprising... 1
Walter Cruz Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 it seems that a lot of music related business are being target by these investment interest companies right now don't? Izotope + Native, Ableton, now IK. https://cdm.link/2021/11/ableton-reportedly-refused-investment-interest-from-diplo-scooter-braun-and-joshua-kushner/ 1
chris.r Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I'm only wondering what are the chances fur us, plugin users, for a long term smooth sail... 2
Walter Cruz Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 BTW, the more I read about iZotope and Native Instruments, more it seems a merger (they now have a common CEO). https://www.izotope.com/en/company/press/2021/native-instruments-izotope-unifying-leadership-teams.html 1
