Cristian Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Funny enough, I can't seem to find any news articles on this !? Sure, it's very old software by this point, but hey... it's free instead of $/€ 79.99 ? I was messing around with the Download Assistant and saw Sequel 3 under "Complimentary Products". Turns out Steinberg decided to finally release a free DAW of their own, in a roundabout way. No strings attached, just like Dorico SE or Halion Sonic SE.https://www.steinberg.net/sequel/ 2 3

Doug Rintoul Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Apparently this is a 32bit program and only supports VST3. So if you only use 32 bit VST3 plugins, you are good to go. Otherwise this makes it pretty pretty useless.
boxed Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 (edited) This is a good find if only for the 5GB of free loops. Being limited to 32 bit VST3s is quite the limitation, but there's included versions of Halion SE and Groove Agent One which are both pretty capable instruments. Does anyone know if the paid Sequel expansions are already included inside of Cubase? https://www.steinberg.net/sequel/expansions/?utm_term=HM&utm_source=POS&utm_medium=Sequel 3&utm_campaign=Sequel Content Sets&utm_content=Info Edited October 29, 2021 by boxed
pbognar Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Those loops are in Steinberg's proprietary .vstsound format, so using them in other DAWs would be a lot of work - probably need to render each to wav files. 2
