Hi fantastic forum folk

Here's a new song I've been working on for a while now.

Nits and crits welcome

The Art of Romancing
Written and performed by Staypress
Backing vocals by Liz Greenway
Middle bit lyrics from an idea by Ed Kocol
V1
I'm trying to get to know you better
Tried to send a text, send a letter
Nothing seems to get through to you
I'm gonna change your point of view
Prechorus
It's a wonderful thing
The joy you can bring
With the art of romancing
Ch
Do you like to dance?
Are you up for some romance?
Whats your stance?
Do you wanna take a chance with me?
V2
You're like a manual for a mobile phone
Hard to read and hard to leave alone
Before this wonderful night is through
Tell me what I
can do for you
Prech
Ch
Middle bit
trying to get through to you
Losing bars under the stars
Trying to see your point of view
Then this night of romance could be ours
Prech
Chorus

Hi Daryl,

cool song as usually,

rythm explorations ...not able to give you any technical thought ... Maybe the voice a little bit too upfront but not sure,It might be your choice ....

anyway cool time spent listening to this song.

cheers.

That chorus grooves hard!!! Great stuff. And, another mixing clinic. I'm not surprised it too you a while, so much clever mix idearrs. Clarity that gets my ears smiling from the first bar. Pure pop goodness and very listenable tunesmithery - well done!

cheers,

-Tom

Hey, Daryl,

How are you, buddy?  It's really great to hear a tasty new Staypress song!?

This is a cool, fresh sounding Pop rocker with clever, trendy lyrics, excellent playing, and you and the "current Mrs." did a fantastic job on the great vocals and harmonies!  I also really love both the funky and distorted guitar parts, and how the combination really adds to the drive and energy of the song as it moves forward.

Excellent addition to the Staypress vault of gems, Daryl, very nice work!?

Have a good one!
Bob

Daryl, this really grows on you fast.  I've listened to this several times, and find it rather addictive.  My only suggestion concerns the EQ of the vocal; it got to sounding shrill after a few listens so you might consider turning down the upper mids a bit, or a bit less compression.  Otherwise, this is terrific!

Merci Olivier.

I thought the same on the vocal - will remix later.

The unmistakable sound of Daryl and the Staypress crew. A likable bouncy tune with a bit of humor, very nice. The mix seemed a little too much on the high end to me, but that could be the headphones I'm currently using.

Thanks a lot Bjorn.

I think you may be right on the brightness - I wrestled with the mix on this one for a while. I'll revisit when my ears a fresher.

What a great pop song.  I particularly liked the clever humour of the lyrics but everything (e.g., performances, arrangement, vocals, composing, instrumentation, etc.) sounded good to me.  I agree with Lynn above.  This song is indeed infectious and makes you want to go back and listen again.

Hi Daryl, I hope everything is great with you and your family.

Great song! After a few listenings the pre-chorus is growing, love it. Great build-up to the catchy chorus. You have a nice skill to balance more in the "interesting and fresh" scale rather than just "wierd." Not that I don't like wierd, but it can ruin good songs sometimes.

The mix sounds top notch both in my headphones and speakers.

Hi Daryl - I think it's a cool pop/rock song - I always enjoy your vocal and lyrics. There's a lot going on in this mix and it sounds excellent to my ears.  The arrangement had quite a variety to it - well done.

Cheers Doug - I really appreciate it
