It would be a wet dream for Linux fanboys. 3rd party developers would suffer since I can't imagine users wanting to constantly pay for an OS. AndyB01 Posted June 14, 2021 Share Posted June 14, 2021 I suspect it will mean the end of the road for my old Gen 1 Focusrite 2i4, it causes enough blue screens as it is in Windows 10. bjornpdx Posted June 16, 2021 Share Posted June 16, 2021 I read somewhere (can't find link now) that Windows 11 fixes the problem a lot of people have (for years now) of app windows rearranging when computer wakes up from sleep. This is for multi monitor setups. So if you've carefully put PRV and console windows on one monitor and track window on another monitor, then after the computer wakes up all the app windows have moved and you have to move them back. This article in PC World mentions Microsoft's PC Health Check app, which includes the ability to see if your system can run Windows 11. https://www.pcworld.com/article/3622940/windows-11-system-hardware-requirements.html I downloaded it and ran it, and it looks like my system doesn't have TPM, at least not the right version. abacab Posted June 24, 2021 Author Share Posted June 24, 2021 I found out that my Asus Z390-A motherboard is only equipped with a TPM 14-1 pin header, part sold separately. Jack Stoner Posted June 25, 2021 Share Posted June 25, 2021 Along with the TPM 2.0, reports on the tenforums.com and 11 forums both quote Microsoft as an 8th gen Intel CPU is required. My desktop DAW has TPM 2.0 and I have an i7 8700K CPU and is Win 11 compatible. However my 2018 Dell Inspiron 15 5577 only has a 7th gen Intel CPU and is not Win 11 compatible. I have a 7th gen Intel CPU which works fine with my DAW setup, and while it has a TPM header, it will not pass the 8th Gen minimum. This is really Sad. Many home studios will not pass the Win11 minimums. I was going to build a new DAW computer this year, but now I will definitely wait until Motherboards have TPM2.O and are certified as Win11 compatible before I build my next computer. This means a delay. I just hope that DAW and vst developers do not require Win11 as their minimum specs when they do their next updates/upgrades.
