Marcello
ANYONE use LANDR AI for Mastering? What's your opinion?
Hidden Symmetry
I've tried several AI mastering services since they started a few years ago including LANDR. I'm not an M/E by any stretch but I always prefer my own results. I expect that though because AI only compares & adjusts your track against an algorithm, it's not actually hearing it so naturally there's many variables it can't account for. I'm not saying one can't get good results just be aware of what it does, what it can & can't do. (BandLab has this free mastering feature, you might want to give it a shot too.) https://www.bandlab.com/mastering One thing I would keep in mind is that your mix should basically sound the way you want it to before having it mastered, whether it's using AI or professionally done. I'd also try having a track professionally mastered sometime then compare it to AI or your own mastering skills as a reference.

Kevin Walsh
That track is good! The mastering job sounds pretty good too, but it sounds in places like the track has lost some definition between instruments. Maybe you have it set to be more aggressive? I didn't know about the free bandlab mastering service, I'll have to check it out.

Mmmm I think LANDR is probably much better I just tried it for the first time. It started loading but then I had a wait a bit before a 'Preview Your Master' page popped up. (It doesn't accept FLAC if that's what you used. ) Gave me a choice of 3 options to listen to & choose- CD Quality, Bass Boost & Enhance Clarity. You need to have a BandLab account & be signed in to download the master. Then its in your projects area.. you can then download your master as- -Med. Quality MP3 ( 128/ 44k) -High MP3 ( 192/44k) -Highest ( 320 mp3) Wav- 16b/44k) Pretty cool feature for free, you might want to try again.
X-53mph
I've used Landr, Bandlab and I use izotope. Landr tends to veer on the trebly. I've had good results from them, and they will always get the volume to broadcast levels...just make sure your original track is of decent audio dynamics as Landr cannot perform miracles on a crappy track. This was done with landr: Listen to Leaving HITRECORD Instrumental remix by 53mph on #SoundCloud https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/5YuL1 Bandlab can be good but it can be a bit heavy handed on the compression. For the price (free) it's worth a try. This was done with Bandlab: Listen to Fake News [HitRecord collaboration with John Lithgow] by 53mph on #SoundCloudhttps://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/Ln616 Izotope generally give s you the most flexibility. I've got my own preset that I work with (tweaking where necessary). I'm a bit underwhelmed by the AI. It never seems too hit the right EQ.

This is the master from LANDR I did, I'mm not really an expert and I'm mixing with headphones at home but on forums the claimed is very hARSH and distorted, like if it's clipping? What do you think about it? CHeck when the drums starts Nice track by the way! love it https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S3W_Qmo-_AVZnhkxHCO5F7fU-FIvKkBB/view?usp=sharing Edited May 23, 2021 by Marcello

No offense but I prefer not to download stuff from Google drive accounts. You could put the track up on Bandlab, for example. BTW: if you're trying to decide the best service, do this simple test.. Take a track that you think is sounding good premaster and put it through all the services you're interested in. Then take a track that is in bad shape premaster and do the same. This will give you an idea of how the AI engines work. Landr is free BTW for MP3 masters. Bandlab is free for wav mastering, and izotope Ozone elements is free to try (and often free with other purchases). So you won't have to spend any money to experiment with options.
