Sadly, with the newer drives they won't allow this.  When you open the case you'll find that the Sata to Usb Controller
has been soldered to the hard drive.  So unless you want to unsolder the drive from the controller, you're out of luck!
The ability to remove the drive and use it was one of the things I used to love about the Old External drives, but they
have seen fit to "fix that problem"!

I wish. SSD drive prices are higher for anything over 500gb.
