Want to change the default recording input when a track is armed

When you arm a track for record and you haven't yet selected the recording source, Cakewalk automatically choses the first input source available.  Is there any way to either:-

1. Change the default recording source?

2. Stop the source being automatically selected?

You would have to go into Preferences and deselect the input you don't want, but then when you do want it, you would have to do it again.
Seems easier to just change the input in the track pane.
