jmay Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 I am trying to downlaod cakewalk on a new computer Windows 10 and and it has been in the "install" phase for two hours. Blank white screen with a bandlab tab in the corner with a spinning icon, Thinking this can't be normal. Will not respond to mouse clicks etc. Unplug and start over? Thanks for any help.
Millzy Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Yep I reckon. It definitely shouldn't take 2 hours (unless you're still on dialup!)
John Vere Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 This happens. Kill it in Task manager. And often peoples anti virus is blocking the install. It should take less than 5 minutes to install on a normal connection.
mark skinner Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 I've seen this happen on a friends computer that had slow internet. I don't remember the spinning but I do remember it still showed it was downloading. It had already downloaded but the top page didn't clear out. The next step was hiding behind the page. You can do an internet test of your download speed pretty easily if you google it. If it's not in the neighborhood of dial up speeds there is probably something on your pc blocking or slowing it down until it just times out. I'm still on Win 7 and with usually around 70 Mb /sec download speed and can download Bandlab assistant and CbB in 8 min.
jmay Posted February 21, 2021 Author Posted February 21, 2021 Thanks for the replies, I had to pull the power cord and upon reconnecting cakewalk was installed and I am up and running. Not sure what happened but all has ended well. 1
