Freeze tracks and CPU

jhajewski

Question

Hey there all.   Just wondering about freeze tracks. Why can’t they freeze to mono? I don’t see that option. It turns my mono tracks to stereo... is it because the end product / master is stereo?

Also, the longer it takes the mix down when freezing - is that an indication of how much CPU the track was taking up?

Lastly, can you leave tracks frozen and mix/export to the final stereo mix?

Cheers!

Not quite. How tracks bounce or freeze is controlled by the interleave button:

Yes. The time it takes is tied to how much processing the track has to do and also how long the track is and if it has to generate a tail for reverbs and so on, which you configure on the freeze settings.

Of course. The only thing freezing a track does is bouncing the track with effects and ProChannel settings it had and disables both.
