is it me or is this thing a POS.

ive spent most of the day trying to do this...

the snare and sidestick on Abbey road drummer ouput to the same fader by default

i want to seperate them and send them to TWO separate outputs.

all my outputs are setup and everything works but i cant work out how to send the sidestick to a different output..

this is the last chance for kontakt its wasted enough of my time as it is.

thanks

Here's a shot in the dark:

Maybe because it's not possible to have a separate side stick microphone, that option isn't available.

I would dive into the documentation, myself.

If you look at the mixer in kontakt you will probably see that the snare and the sidestick are in the same channel/track. AFAIK you can't assign them to separate outputs in CW.

thanks guys ..it does seem that the snare and sidestick are being picked up by one mike

but surely if one is to have separate drum outputs one isnt expected to treat a snare

EQ /comp/rev etc as they would a sidestick..

something wasnt thought thru here

One of the guys who does tutorials has a way to set up a Kontakt template which makes things a bit easier and I have also seen a video with Vikings composer Trevor Morris where he shows how he basically has a template with everything ready to go in Kontakt but with everything disabled(in cakewalk language - archived).

He does have assistants to do the heavy lifting for him though :)

In all the articles I've read even where engineers are using 70 bazillion mics on the drum kit, I have never seen mention of a separate side stick signal.

Probably the way this would be accomplished is through automation.

Although I have to say that past a certain point adding more complexity to a mix only adds - complexity.
