That reminds me of the 25$ gift card they gave with their DSP cards. You got no plugins with them and no plugin they offered could be bought with that coupon or even discounted heavily.

That's because UAD doesn't sell enough of these to be able to do sales. If they didn't start making audio interfaces a few years ago, they wouldn't last, as the need for DSP cards was replaced with better and more powerful computers, despite the marketing claims from the likes of Avid, UAD and McDSP. LUNA is their attempt to bring more people into their ecosystem.
