X-53mph
Hey guys, I'm putting together a song which is meant to sound like Bob Dylan The Times They Are A-changin'. Does anyone have any tips on how to get that guitar sound? Type of compression? I'm guessing Tube compression. Not much bass. Does anyone have any more precise tips? Or are there any plugin that would help to get that sound? Thanks in advanced

Gswitz
I'd try a ribbon Mic.
paulo
Layer this over the vocal track.... As loud as possible. You can't make it too loud. 1
X-53mph
I'm afraid I don't have a ribbon mic... Not so easy to come by these days. 49 minutes ago, Gswitz said: I'd try a ribbon Mic.

Acoustic Sessions
From what I've gathered, those early 1960's Dylan tracks where recorded live in the studio all in one shot, through a single microphone. Any perceived effects where probably due to microphone placement more than anything else. Dylan's initial "purest folk period" was all about the lyric, the music and recordings that followed were no more than a vehicle to convey his observations. Experiment with both dynamic and condenser mikes, shouldn't be to hard to replicate.
