Sound coming out of speakers and not headphones

When im using Wasapi (shared), i can switch between using my headphones or speakers ,tho i have to plug in my headphones first before opening cakewalk cause if I plug in my headphones while cakewalk is on, itll just play thru the speakers. Also when Im using ASIO it just plays through the speakers entirely. Help

Windows does the switching between speakers and headphones.

Go to Windows' sound driver settings and check for a setting that might help. Recently had a user who had to specifically enable switching from speakers to headphones when the headphones are plugged in.
