Tip for Vertical Scrolling with Mouse Wheel

Recommended Posts

Click the track view Options and go to Mouse Wheel Zoom Options

There, change the Zoom factor for Vertical from 1 to 1.5 (or however you like - just higher than 1)

Now it also zooms vertically when you zoom via ALT +  Mouse wheel.

Unchecking the option "Simultaneous Vertical and Horizontal Zoom" also separates it so you can:

ALT+Mouse Wheel  to zoom vertically and
CTRL+ALT+Mouse Wheel to zoom horizontally

I thought I might share this since I haven't found this anywhere else and there were only old topics that said it's just not possible to zoom vertically with Mouse Wheel.
I saw it should work like this in the documentation and I was about to report it as a bug because it just wouldnt work with the standard Vertical Zoom factor of 1.

I've been fighting an issue with the surround panner mouse being jerky and slow when the tracks are playing. Stopped, it's fine but once I start playback the panner is very slow. After messing with far too many thing I came upon your comments. Lo and behold, raising the Vertical Zoom factor to anything above 1 (like 1.001) stopped the jerkiness. Not sure why but I am thankful I came upon your comments.

If I figure out the "why" I'll post it.

Hi, any other mouse tricks you care to share?  Thanks!

I love the fact that you can scroll through hundreds of tracks vertically very quickly while holding shift it saves a lot of time. If you want to scroll normally just use the mouse without any modifiers.

When you're in track view and position mouse over the tracks you can scroll left and right with the control key and speed it up with control + shift .

To deselect selections in the track view just right click and lasso in empty space even tiny amount lasso will deselect everything else. This one saves plenty of time if you work with multiple selections etc.
