Apply effects/instruments from VST to MIDI file.

Question

Posted (edited)

I am new of using Cakewalk Sonar Platinum. I am thinking about on how to apply the effect/instruments/etc from VST (I am using Luxonix Purity) to MIDI file? When I change the instrument from VST then when I playback the MIDI, it will returned to default. Thanks

Could be there is something in the MIDI track that changes the settings you have chosen in the VSTi. Open Inspector for the MIDI track and see id there is a selection in B (Bank) or P (Patch.) For what you want they should be None.

Also open Event List for the MIDI track, see if there is a Patch event.

Maybe do some screenshots of Inspector, the track pane?

If you are talking about things like EQ, Compression etc, these are audio effects (fx). They can only be applied to audio events. Or to a VST itself. for example, if I have the Garritan Aria Player going, and I do a midi track for strings, I cannot apply EQ directly to the midi track. I can only apply it to the Aria player itself. Or I can bounce the midi track to an audio track, and then apply it.

The only effects you can apply directly to a midi track are midi fx, like chorusing, velocity etc.
