Create a Generic Surface?

I found this topic in the knowledge-base.   It would appear that you can create a generic or custom controller.    But I can't seem to find this feature  in CbB.

Has this been removed?  Or just secretly hidden somewhere?....

Thanks fossile, yeah I saw that.    But the other page looked like you could configure it and bind certain actions to controller messages.    Like say controller 11 for 'Record Arm' etc....
