Dean Cutillar Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 https://soundcloud.com/deanc2000/theycouldneverbelieve Here's my new song. I did it with Cakewalk. It turned out OK, but I really need to learn how to EQ better. My EQ is mostly high pass filtering. Do you guys have any recommendations on EQ tutorials that I can use to learn how to EQ well? Thanks.
garybrun Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 (edited) HI Dean. Listened to your track.. Good composition What speakers are you listening on? Your track lacks bass and sounds boxy. Try finding a song that is similar that you know. Add that to your timeline and use it as a reference track and try and match the sound to your track. Just move an eq around and see how near you can get it. Well done. Edited August 8, 2020 by garybrun
Bajan Blue Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Dean Agree with Gary - this needs bass and does sound boxy. it is also very toppy. If I was mixing this, I would start getting the drum /bass balance and sound sorted out then go from there. Its a good track, just needs a better mix! Good job Nigel
bjornpdx Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Very nice. The vocal styling is good and I like the synthy doodles here and there. About the only thing that stood out to me was that some track levels were a bit too loud and kind of stifled the voc. Good job on this one.
