Kontakt Upgrade from Player to Full Version?

Recommended Posts

  • Johnny-D VGM changed the title to Kontakt Upgrade from Player to Full Version?

No, but there are some free libraries for Kontakt Player, you have to register them with NI. Once you have done that you may qualify for crossgrade pricing. I don't know which ones at the moment but this one has worked in the past https://en-uk.sennheiser.com/drummica

Nothing to loose by trying it.

Unfortunately, DrumMic'a doesn't get you anything in the way of upgrade offers.

Though it's nice to have if you don't already have Addictive Drums or similar, and the price is right.

Been trying to get onto the KOMPLETE merry-go-round for years, but they never seem to have the substantially less-than-$600 pricing it'd take to make that happen. And I own $300 of things that appear in KOMPLETE... those don't help, either.

It's as if they want to keep the riff-raff out. ?

To get the best deal, just wait for Native Instruments' regular summer (around June) or Winter (Black Friday) sales.  If I recall, the prices are as much as 50% off.

Alternatively, you can purchase secondhand, but of course there's some risk involved, and even with a legit sale, Kontakt is usually snatched up pretty fast.

Sometimes upgrades and crossgrades are included in sales.

The page on Kontakt crossgrades leads you to this list of third party Kontakt Player libraries. Do be careful as nowhere does it explicitly say all will entitle you for a crossgrade.

Companies like Soundiron have some excellent Player compatible products and often have sales that can significantly reduce the price of their products.  However it would be wise to check if it would make you eligible for a cross grade.

I own the Soniccouture Estey Reed Organ, an instrument for Kontakt and Kontakt Player.

My account at Native Instruments show me eligible to crossgrade to the full version of Kontakt 6 for $249. Waiting for their next 50% off sale (at $125) ... ?

This instrument currently  lists for $49 at Soniccouture. I got it for free during a giveaway a few years ago.

However they  are currently offering these other Kontakt Player instruments for free: http://www.soniccouture.com/en/free-stuff/

I'm curious if NI will recognize any of these freebies as crossgrade eligible?

I think Estey was a paid product they gave away free for a while.  The other were always free but when they introduced NKS support they added these instruments to the Player compatible ones.

I love the Rocksichord in particular.

Well you would make your $49 back on the Estey with the crossgrade deal on Kontakt 6 at $249 crossgrade vs. $399 full version.

I also have the free DrumMic'a and the paid SoundIron Hyperion Strings Micro, but the NI website only shows the Estey for my crossgrade deal. I don't think it will list more than 1, if you have more than 1 eligible instrument. I'm pretty sure that at one time Drum Mic'a did work for that deal.
