Andy Hooper
Here are my specs, first off. Intel Core I7 8700k, 16 GB 3200 mhz RAM, Samsung 860 EVO SSD, Presonus Firestudio Mobile, Newest version of CbB. I am working with a 96/24 project that has about 40 tracks and a ton of plugins. 12+ instances of Amplitube, Addictive Drums, lots of compressors and Eq's, etc. Its gotten to where I have to set the buffer to 4096 to get 100% glitch free playback. If I turn off all the plugins I can playback with much smaller buffers. Does that sound normal? CPU isnt even getting taxed very hard and I have plenty of RAM available. 57Gregy
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like the perfect case for using Freeze or Bounce to Tracks. Maybe save the project under a new name then try out the 2 different approaches to lessen the processor load.
Andy Hooper
Yeah, I guess youre right. I was just making sure something wasn't awry and this is a normal limitation.
57Gregy
It's normal to up the buffer size during playback to prevent glitches with high-plug-in-count projects. Where a low buffer counts is when recording so you can hear what you're recording in sync with the playback. You probably already know all that.
Andy Hooper
That's the conclusion I had come to. I've been doing this for a long time but I just got serious about it a few months ago so I still feel like a noob sometimes.
lmu2002
Every computer has it's limits. Mine works better with 'plugin load balancing' unchecked.

I hope my motherboard will eventually get the support for the 4th gen Ryzens too.
