Gswitz
Drag your backing track onto track 1. Add another track. Record enable that track. Click record. You may want to mute the metronome or turn it off. You may want to loop record... Shift+L when the backing track clip is selected to enable loop record. L toggles off and on.

Go in clean and use amp sims? Does your audio interface have H-Z inputs? All this will help determine the best way forward for you.
John Vere
There probably is a 100's of tutorials on something a simple as this, Did you try google? I got 1,000,000 results but Gswitz more of less covered it in the 3 lines.
