Citizen DJ is a new website offering free samples from the US Library of Congress.

The Library of Congress is the US’s primary library and contains more than three million sound recordings. It’s also part of the US Copyright Office; this is significant because it means that you can be confident that anything you download from Citizen DJ can be used for free and without restriction. The library is divided into collections of everything from free music to government films, speeches and interviews.

The project is scheduled to run until September 2020.

LOL! Where's the download everything link.   If you are bad at web design you can get a job working for a government.

To d/l 1.3gb of sounds click here: http://citizendj.labs.loc.gov.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/loc-fma/use/

Found lots of interviews with lots of different people in the music industry. Singers, musicians, engineers:

To be honest, I think this is a site that would interest a lot of people. It appears to be a site under development, so go with some patience and don't loose interest too fast. The little while I looked around there I found more stuff to keep me busy for hours and hours!!

Thanks MandolinPicker for this post.

Citizen DJ is actively under construction and available for review & feedback only. *Please do not share.* Public launch is expected to be in summer 2020. Find updates at https://labs.loc.gov/experiments/citizen-dj/.

Since Citizen DJ has been made available for review & feedback, why not make positive suggestions so maybe when it is launched it will be better?

(As of right now, I would agree with anyone who claims it is seriously underdeveloped in content and form.)

Did you do the little Task app it has? At the end it gives you a chance to give feedback.

Thanks for mentioning this.  I went to 5 or 6 sections and tried them in my web browser, but didn't see a Task app.  I will be sure to look for it, though.

For the Beatles fans, a one hour interview with Paul McCartney from 1987: https://www.loc.gov/item/jsmith000179/
