ok, but this does not set the now time "while playing".

I am aware that setting now time while playing works with clicking on the timeline. But my suggestion would be without the distracting need to move the cursor to the timeline and go back to the area where you edit.

I should, unless maybe you have Transport Seeking Stops Playback enabled in that same options menu.
