High hats in a loop keep getting lower?

Question

Posted

Hi, I'm new to cakewalk and DAWs in general, and I was playing with the EQ on a drum track in a loop. Now, everytime the loop plays, the high hats get lower, by maybe a quarter tone. What did I do to make this happen, and how do I fix this?

(It may not have been the EQ, I was probably also mucking around with other dials and buttons around the place.)

Is this an audio loop that's been rolled out or a normal audio clip with looping enabled in the timeline? If it's looping in the timeline, possibly you're hearing a phasing shift against another track/bus as the timing drifts with each iteration. Otherwise it's pretty hard to envision a mechnism by which the pitch of a 'loop' would drop with every iteration.

Hit that "FX" button up at the top in the Control Bar and see if the problem goes away. If it does, you set up one or more of your FX in a weird way. Go through them and figure out what you did. Sounds like an interesting, possibly useful effect. Make note of it for possible future use. ?
