Max Arwood
I'm setting up a second drive to run win10 on. I'm going to do a dual boot for a while. Looking at Seagate https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Solid-State/dp/B07T87W4CP/ref=sr_1_4?crid=15J0WOKG5T0PF&keywords=seagate+ssd+2tb+internal&qid=1579497906&sprefix=seagate+ssd+2tb+%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-4 and Samsung https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76E2T0B-AM/dp/B0786QNSBD/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3D9W8T5EH36A2&keywords=ssd+2tb+internal+samsung&qid=1579497957&sprefix=ssd+2tb+internal%2Caps%2C187&sr=8-3 Can't seem to find any data in read / write speed for these. My Barracudas will sustain 185-201 read/write combinations depending on the file size. Or is there another 2TB you would recommend? ( Putting this drive in an older i7 Studio Cat DAW) Thanks, Max Arwood
msmcleod
I personally use Crucial almost exclusively (both MX500 and the earlier MX300's). They've been rock solid for me. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B078C515QL/ref=sr_1_1_sspa
Robert Bone
They all use SATA III, which maxes out at around 500 MB/second. Seek times will be faster than on a HDD drive. Bob Bone
razor7music
I recommend the WD Black gaming NVMe SSD drives -- if your system mobo is compatible. (Transfer speeds up to 3400 MB/s) Not sure this is the best price, but I see you've already been looking at Amazon.
William W. Saunders, Jr.
I have used this one with great results: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0786QNSBD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I also use this one, for about double the price, which is even better in terms of specs and reviews: Samsung 970 EVO SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C8Y31G1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=

AB99
Will there actually be any noticeable difference in the running of Cakewalk by have a drive better than the Samsung 860?
Max Arwood
Not sure just guessing - 3,500MB/s and 2,500MB/s, VS 500 It should make quite a difference if you got an extra 600 laying around! Will that Samsung 970 EVO SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe plug into a sata III connection on an older computer? Max Arwood

Pay close attention to the heading 'What You Need to Get NVMe' Edited January 23, 2020 by razor7music
Anders Madsen
The Samsung has an excellent clone program that has worked flawless for me twice. I cloned the system drive those times.
