how to rrealtime record Modulation to a MIDI track?

Looks like there are two different MIDI controllers, the track lane and the Piano roll.

I tried the "W" button
I can Draw the info, but I really want to use the mod wheel real time to record the data.
how to rrealtime record Modulation to a MIDI track?

I think it is the W button you need to  press

Recording MIDI automation data is independent from recording audio or MIDI data. That's so you can record automation without overwriting your part by accident. Joe is right, click W to write automation.

How to record the control data in the Piano roll window? CC:1 Modulation, where is the "W" or way to record, not draw?

The track lane is for Writing (or drawing) an automation envelope that generates controller messages on playback. To record actual MIDI controller messaages, set the record mode to Sound on Sound, arm the MIDI track for recording, start recording, and 'perform' on the mod wheel in real time.
