I've been using Melodyne successfully for many years within Cakewalk projects on my Win 10 music PC .... Just recently, I've changed my audio interface unit, a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP, to an Audient iD44 MK II and Melodyne has now (mostly!) stopped working within my Cakewalk project; it fails to produce pitch bars (blobs) in the Melodyne window. I've ensured there are no sample rate conflicts between the iD44 and Cakewalk by setting 44.1Khz and 24 bit everywhere in the Cakewalk driver/audio preference settings and also in the iD44 mixer settings. What's really annoying is that very occasionally, I am able to correctly "Region FX/Melodyne" a recorded vocal wav file within my project. I've tried "Bouncing to clip" - to make sure the vocal recording is rendered correctly before trying Melodyne on it with (mostly) no luck. Very occasionally, it will work! Melodyne works fine on the recorded vocal when used as a stand-alone application in Windows. Chatgpt has suggested I export every track as a separate template file and then import them all back into a clean/fresh Cakewalk project, in case my current Cakewalk project is corrupted somewhere - but, with 42 tracks I'm a bit daunted to try this. There doesn't seem to be a way of easily exporting my complete project and then importing it all back into a new/clean Cakewalk project easily .... (?) Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Andy

Yes that works the same as applying "Freeze" to the problematic synth track - takes the full real-time to render each time to export so if exporting a lot, it's better to "Freeze" the synth tack. Thanks for all the Bitbridge info David. I'll live with the freeze synth fix for now - once a synth track has been finalised, it might just as well be frozen while the rest of the project is progressed. Thanks. All the same settings as mine except for the check in the 64bit double precision box - but that didn't fix my problem. Yes, I agree David! Thanks - I'll look into that! Yes, I must try and move forward with the times! I'll check out that Dim Pro acoustic bass - thanks.

Yeah it sure is! But the luddite in me hangs on grimily to old systems that I've used for a long time and am familiar with...

Many thanks for your help David. The midi bass is an old midi Cakewalk Sound Center synth with the Acoustic bass which I've used on many projects. It's a 32 bit synth. There are no (intentional) delay FX on the midi synth track. This is so weird - I've used similar project setups 100s of times in the past - maybe one of the CW updates has disturbed something. This problem is only affecting the Sound Centre synth and not a SI Strings synth I also have set-up. I'm using the Export off-line. I've just found a work around - I have to Freeze the synth with the "Freeze in real time" option selected - takes a while but at least when it completes I can export my project now! Andy

Strange problem here - I have a music project consisting of midi tracks and wav recordings.... ...when I play the project within Cakewalk everything is fine and on the correct beat... ...but when I export the project, the bass becomes delayed and 'hesitant' relative to the rest of the tracks... Am I going mad?! Thanks for any thoughts, Andy

Of course, I found a way to do it as soon as I asked the question....! The Cakewalk browser is not used in the operation at all - I simply made a midi track within Cakewalk and dragged one of the progressions from within the Unison folder in a file MS manager window straight into the midi track and it worked, after assigning an instrument to that track. It's a bit of a 'clunky' operation (not all being within Cakewalk) but at least my $27 for Unison hasn't been wasted! Yeah, they certainly do this.... In buying the chord pack, they really pushed me for more 'bells and whistles' add-ons before I finally got to the checkout for the basic Unison Midi Chord Pack. Things like chord progressions from the 'hits' bundle. I guess that would be useful as well; all being in one place, but it's the sort of thing you can easily find yourself online. Andy

I also picked up the "Unison MIDI Chord Pack" as it seemed useful but I can't see how to access it in my Cakewalk DAW... The Unison setup video show the top-level "Unison MIDI Chord Pack" folder being dragged into the browser of the DAWs they are using (unfortunately none of them Cakewalk) - and then dragging chord progressions into a midi track - but the browser in Cakewalk seems to be of a different type and doesn't allow that operation from my attempts.. Has anyone had any success using it from within Cakewalk and if so how did you set it up? Many thanks for any information! Andy

Session Drummer 3 not working after Win10 upgrade...

Many thanks for the reminder John and to @scook - that C+ redistribution file repair was all that was needed (+ a VST rescan) -

I'd love to John - but my 64bit dll from SONAR X3 wasn't recognised - it's dated 2013 so maybe it's too old for Bandlab's Cakewalk... -

I think you are mistaken here - it's not a soft synth; there's a vast wav library associated with Session Drummer 3 with 100's MB of different types of real drum kits. I've used it a lot in the past and really like it and don't really want to migrate to a different setup if I can help it. I've now managed to get "Session Drummer 3" working in 32bit mode now - for anyone interested you can try the following: Run your previous SONAR X3 (or X2 or X1) installation disc/files and when it gets to the menu "Basic or Advanced" setup - select "Advanced" and just select the plugins you want to add (not a full install). I tried this initially for 64 bit operation but that Session drummer driver wasn't recognised so, I then did another partial installation of plugins for 32bit mode and this Session Drummer 3 driver is recognised. When the installation is finished, open Cakewalk (Bandlab) and in the "Edit/Preferences/VST" settings navigate to the 32 bit VST/Session Drummer 3 folder and then "ADD" that path to the VST folders that are scanned and then select "Scan" to force a re-scan of all the folders. Session Drummer 3 will then appear in the "Uncategorised" Plugin list and can now be added as an instrument track strip. Note that there was a soft-synth that was missing in the Cakewalk (Bandlab) version that was there on previous versions of SONAR - the "Cakewalk Sound Centre" - this synth is a bit long in the tooth but it has some quite good sounds on it that can still be useful. This synth gets installed as an added bonus with the above 32bit plugin re-install. Phew! - I knew it was going to be painful but the Win10 upgrade with the new (free!) Cakewalk (Bandlab) and above plugins re-installed have made my music studio future proof for the next few years.... Good luck everyone! Andy -
I've just bitten the bullet and upgraded my PC to Win10 and then upgraded from Sonar X3 to Bandlab Cakewalk.... I knew this was going to be painful! I then did a partial SONAR 3 install; just installing the VST plugins and now "Session Drummer 3" appears here: Program Files/Cakewalk/VstPlugins - BUT - when running the new Bandlab version of Cakewalk, it refuses to 'see' the Session Drummer 3 driver "SessionDrummer x64.dll" I've tried manually resetting the Vst plugins with a VST manual scan ("Rescan Failed Plug-ins" & "Rescan All Plug-ins") but still no joy. My "Session Drummer x64.dll" has a size of 1708KB and is dated 12/09/2013 - just wondered if this driver is too old for WIN10? Does anyone have a later version of the driver they could send me? Many thanks, Andy
