@pulsewalk The problems you are experiencing were similar to the ones I experienced on my project. I'm inclined to agree that it is probably project related. In my case my project has only forty two tracks. I too have gone down similar roots as yourself to try to resolve the problem. I will send a .cwp file of my project to the developers to see if we can get to the bottom of this. FWIW the project I'm working on is four years old, pre-pandemic, and was put on hold because of the pandemic. I have since transferred all of the project over to Reaper and I am finishing the project there. I opened a couple of other projects from the same era in CbB and they opened and played back fine but in both of these I had not frozen/unfroze any of the tracks.

@Jonathon Sassor Thanks for your help. I removed all visual C++ redistributables as suggested and did a fresh install of Bandlab Assistant. I tnen hit the install button for Cakewalk in the Apps section. I selected the add ons I wanted and BA eventually stalled with a flashing installing message. I let it run that way overnight came back in the morning still the same. I unistalled BA and Cakewalk checked for windows update and updated to win10 Version 20H2 build 19042.746 then tried again with a fresh install of BA. Currently the install is just hanging this time with no indication of it doing anything at all. Task manager shows BA is running.

I tried the update yesterday 03/01/21 and it failed but I rolled back and was able to use the previous version. Today I tried again using the install button (not update as yesterday) in Bandlab Assistant. This is how it went. I was unable to change file locations in the advanced tab. I like to keep my content and project folders on a separate hdd. First error asking for minimum runtime I cancelled and installation continued. Then the regsvr32 error appeared and I chose to cancel the installation. This was a repeat of the errors I received on the 3rd. only this time I was unable to run my previous version of Cakelab because libmp3lame.DLL could not be found.

Thanks Jonathan for your reply. I tried removing all redists and then manually installing from the link above. All went fine until the latest x64 version of the redist. The first error again was Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 x64 Minimum Runtime 14.16.27024 is missing and needed. Then the message came up for me to insert a cd to install this or to search for it on my pc. I neither have a cd containing this software and neither can i find it on my pc. The second error informs me that Microsoft Visual C++ 2019 x64 Minimum Runtime 14.27.29016 cannot be removed yet it does not appear in my Add/Remove programs list for me to manually uninstall. I have not yet tried to remove redists that are already installed, and then run the Cakewalk installer again butI have been on the Microsoft forum and received suggestions from a guy on there. Mainly instructions on how to remove old redists and then how to reinstall all redists. All of those suggestions still ended with the same problem. This is very frustrating and is preventing me from updating to the latest version of Cakewalk.

I could not get the updater to run without error messages. I uninstalled both bandlab assistant and cakewalk and then reinstalled them and still no good.
