Thanks for all the info. For Disk Makers I’ve just uploaded a finished Cd from architect. It worked fine and sounded great. I’ve got today to work on this program.

Sure, windows will burn a usb drive. I did that after I burnt out the. Internal drive. I do need a real authoring program for cds for disk makers replication. thanks

Thanks both. I went to magix but didn’t sign in..I’ll try that first.

Another topic done to death. My 45-year-old amp is dying. Or one channel. It was a 10-inch version of the same class as the famous NS 10. Not the same midrange but is goes much lower and the top end is beryllium sweet (another thing Yamaha can't make for environmental reasons, just like the acid bath paper cone in the NS 10). The speakers are excellent and the whole system would sale today for 2+K to 3k$. Yamaha makes a similar class amp these days for $800 bucks or so. Any better deals to get a professional monitoring system , or an integrated system up from say the Yamaha HS 8 and such? Thanks for your thoughts @

Yea, I know, but the only cD architect I could find was on Amazon. It was officially from SONY, so that is good. I just don't want to spend 112 US$ for a program I've had for 15 years. My older computer died with the programs on it but I don't think they will authorize tho I have the serial and reg numbers (like Cakewalk used to authorize). What would be another good program to assemble a CD and why and is it cheaper than $112?

Touchscreens are great but there is no tactile feedback like with a real fader. That is a problem but touch works well as a controller for xy pads, on off and many other functions. Mousing is good for small discrete moves. Computer Keyboard for numbers, names etc. they all have their place and one can pick and choose the best for your workflow.

I’ve heard good things about it.

Voxengo is my go to mastering plugs. But I also use hardware on the output.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

This has more to do with Kontakt rather than cakewalk. You need to use the NI app to load install and register your NI product with each computer.

Some nice prices if you own any of their other products.

I’m waiting on an MOTU ultralight mk 4 which has been out a year but not available because of a chip shortage. Glad the older stuff is still available.

Good tone.

Many times the Master buss is rolled over in the console view. You have to pull the tracks and output section to the left to expose the master buss.

Great stuff, Craig. Wasn’t SOS still doing occasional columns about cake for a while? still, unless Bandlab releases a new synth or new reverb or comp or something, it is hard to place a review. As great as stability is, it is hard to get non users excited in a laundry list of bug fixes. If Bandlab wants press they’ll have to break some code eggs.

Usually that means not enough cpu to run the programs at that low rate. Either a slow computer or badly written drivers for the interface.

Talent for sure. The biggest difference I’ve found otherwise is rooms. A tuned room really helps distinguish different instruments… more definition. Most home recordists don’t have a spare room or two that can be tuned anyway with low ceilings etc. and many of us have other compromises, live recording and monitoring in one room or two with too much bleed to really tell what the heck you are doing. Experience, which goes to skills mentioned above. then equipment. Even tho a basic interface and dynamic can provide a good capture these days, better quipment (and experience using it ) makes a difference, even if it is only at the margins. Personally I try to have at least one nice transformer between me and the converter.

Yes. There are several threads about how to restore dimpro.

In the new products forum. Check it out to see some of the thoughts of the rest of the DAWs

24 bits is standard recording depth, so yea, just about anything new will be better.

" Bedroom" speakers to listen to tracks?
Alan Tubbs replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yamaha. They don’t even have to be the M series for musicians. They will provide an alt source that is different and kinda medium. Not the car or a boom box or headphones, but what use to be the “average listener experience”. -
I do of course have a portable data drive. That is how I transfer songs from my 10 year win 7 computer to the new one. And it has been 5 years or so since my last new computer installation, may she rest in pieces..

Thanks scoop. I’ll look again in preferences. This takes me back to the old manual/dictionary conundrum- how do you look up something you don’t know how to spell? Just keep misspelling it until you get it right.

Still working up the new computer but I can’t find the function that saves songs to a new location other in the standard cakewalk file location. I want them to go to my 2nd . it has been too long since I’ve gotten a new main rig. thanks
