  1. My WD My Book Studio has suddenly stopped working. It contains ALL my backups of sessions (yeah I know. More fool me). Does anyone know how to recover lost data? Any advice would be warmly welcomed. ??
  2. If you need to rebalance an already mixed track, izotope Ozone has an option that is very easy to use. Another far cheaper option than either ozone or spectral layers is Acon Acoustica. It has a very effective rebalancing feature, plus many of the features that special layers has, at half the price. https://acondigital.com/products/acoustica-audio-editor/ This has become my substitute for an old copy of Cool Edit Pro 2 that I used for those quick audio editing jobs that don't require CbB. Acoustica loads up in a second, is super fast at rendering and is not a CPU hog. I really recommend checking it out.
  3. I seem to remember using the Antares Throat plugin way back in the 1990s or early 2000s. It was cool as hell back then because you could shape the sound of your voice to make it more husky or breathy. I don't know if I'd bother using it these days as there are so many other plugins that do the same or similar. Has anyone given it a try yet?
  4. Hi guys! I haven't been so active on the music front of late due to having to care for a paralyzed dog and generally life getting in the way. As such, I'm trying to bring a series of tracks that have been lingering around to some kind of completion for an eventual album this year. This track is called The Light Over the Hilltop and it's an acoustic track with a lot of experimentation in production. It's not intended as a single, so I'm not going for that pop song quality here. Think more of a Sufjan Stevens' style album track. Appreciate any feedback Here's an updated version with less reverb, more spacing and EQ tweaking. Any thoughts appreciated. Updated Version 16: V Version 16.5 Lyrics: Camping round the church Tents between the tombstones Rained so *****ing hard Our skin stuck at the elbows A quiet country road We're in the back with Beaster on the radio Volume set to max, I kill the lights As I put her into cruise control No-one'll believe what we saw there Paying for the gas, Copper coins collected in a glass jar Drawing circles in the dust Of what we saw Like tiny psychos on the floor No-one'll believe what we saw there
  5. Update on Ruby: Ruby is now home (which is great) but she's still not using her back legs. I took her for a second session in the hyperbaric chamber and Monday she will start water physio. Between those sessions we are doing physiotherapy at home which includes using an electric toothbrush between her toes to stimulate feeling and provoke a reaction. The good news is that there has been some reaction to stimulus at the clinic and at home, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that she'll regain some use of her legs. But it's a long road yet. For the moment we have to empty her bladder for her as she has no bladder control. Thank you again to everyone who has helped. Once my life is no longer split between working and nursing, I will add more music to my Bandcamp subscription section for those who signed up. I really appreciate you all. Keeping our fingers triple crossed.
  6. Correction. Hyperbaric. Pesky autocorrect.
  7. An update on Ruby. Last night the vet called us close to Midnight to say that the operation was successful and Ruby was awake. He performed keyhole surgery on her spine where a disc had ruptured and deposited material and blood into the spinal cavity. We will have to wait 2-3 days to see if she will recover use of her back legs or not, but the vet is confident she will make a good recovery. At the very least, the damaged area has been cleaned which will prevent further damage and potential full paralysis. Today Ruby will be treated to a session in a Hyperbaric chamber. The clinic recommended this to speed up recovery. Hopefully, if all goes well, we will get to bring her home this week. I wish to thank everyone who has reached out and helped us during this stressful moment. We've been truly humbled by the support and we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude. Thank you. ? We know that this is only the beginning of a longer process to recovery, but the relief we feel at having her make it through the operation itself is immense. I'll keep everyone updated
  8. These are some photos of her in better times. She's a super cute doggy with a heart of gold.
  9. I'm sorry you lost your cat. I lost many a cat growing up. It's always a heartbreak. Having to make the decision to save a pet is heartbreaking. ? Above all because they (unlike us humans) are innocent souls.
  10. Sorry to hear that. I lost a dog to cancer when I was a kid. Had it all around his heart.
  11. The vet tried to operate this evening but our dog started to develop a heart problem, so the operation is being put on hold until tomorrow morning when the cardiac vet will be able to assist. Just hoping that she can be operated at this point. If not, we will need to look into living with a paralyzed dog. It's been a very long long day.
  12. ....a 5 grand vet bill for a paralyzed sausage dog. ? If anyone wants to buy some of my music, everything will be going towards the vet bill and the post operative rehabilitation. https://53mph.bandcamp.com
  13. Thanks for listening Larry. Each to their own, I guess. ? The track has already been released on streaming and been doing the rounds on internet radio, so I won't be making any more changes. But I appreciate the input. ?
  14. Thanks Mark, The percussion is a combination of knee slapping, string slapping and some light drumming. I also use some of these tracks to trigger the drum replacement in Sonar. I try to keep it subtle, and to blend the sounds. Thanks for the comment on the vocals. Really appreciate it.
  15. Since we're sharing good news. I got this fine fine message this morning.
  16. Thank you Larry, I've been waiting for Humble Bundle to offer a Vegas Pro update. I've been running version 15 for years and it's starting to feel a bit tired. This should be a big improvement.
  17. Thanks guys (Marc and LAGinz) for pointing me in the right direction. I have to give the guys at InMusic credit who are dealing with BFD, they were polite, helpful, punctual and came through on the ticket request in 2 days. I'm downloading London Sessions now - and their helpfulness has inspired me to invest in a new expansion pack from them. I was thinking of the Vintage Recording Techniques pack - I'm really into that retro drum sound. Any suggestions?
  18. @Jan SchmitzSchmitzSchmitzSchmitz ? If you've got that much lolly to burn, feel free to throw some of it my way. ? I've been sweating over whether to get a 23 dollar plugin or not. ?
  19. I tried a mix with he vocals a few dB higher but, for some reason, it throws the whole mix out. It just didn't sit well. So I decided to throw caution to the wind and go with this mix. It's coming out Dec on streaming and has already gone to radio. Fingers crossed. ?
  20. Thanks mate. I do mic the guitar close to the base of the fretboard. I like to get fret noises into my mixes (I love driving you engineers crazy), but I did use some compression and limiter on the squeaks to suppress them somewhat. The fret playing is pretty frantic too, lots of sliding up and down the frets. Club mix sounds like a good idea - I might ask a friend if he can do a remix for me.
  21. I just received an updated email regarding this Acid Pro 11 deal. 22. This year I got: nothing Yep. I resisted every offer.
  23. How did you get the London Sessions? I had BFD and I read somewhere that you can do a license transfer, but who do I need to contact for that, InMusic or Fxpansion? Cheers
  24. Just to ram the point home @fret_man : this is on the InMusic facts page: "How can I migrate my BFD1/2/Eco kits for use in BFD 3.4? Factory Audio Content from BFD 1/2/Eco cannot be used with BFD 3.4; this audio content has been packaged as BFD El Dorado (for BFD 1) and BFD London Sessions (For BFD 2). " So, do not buy those old expansion packs unless you own BFD 1 and never intend to update your OS because..... "Please Note: If you change computers, or update your OS/Computer Components, you will lose access to BFD 1/2/Eco."
