  1. For completeness on this subject, and since no reply or fix has been put forth by Sonar, I dusted off my original first keyboard: the Yamaha DX11 with 5 0ctaves and connected it via MAudio Midisport 2x2 USB interface to my laptop. Though it takes some space on my working desk, it works perfectly entering MIDI notes in Sonar. No cumbersome octave scale shifting necessary, mostly.
  2. Here it is November 13, 2025 and I have not seen any action or reply from Sonar about the Virtual Piano Keyboard GUI unwanted octave reduction. I posted 2 bug reports much earlier based on 2 Sonar versions. If they don´t think it is important, perhaps they should unblock the use of the last version of Cakewalk by Bandlab so that we can have a workaround Sonar deficiencies until they see fit to fix them...
  3. This is my current pc set up. HP Spectre x360 touchscreen laptop. I do not use the touchscreen function but it is there. Pavilion 32" external monitor. Perfect for DAW editing. Attached screen of display setup.
  4. The great variety of Virtual Keyboard GUI's shown by this thread readers point to some odd coding thereof and an undesirable octave reduction in new Sonar. Here are my screenshots of my Bandlab Cakewalk version and the new Sonar one on exactly the same laptop, monitor, etc. Cakewalk opens a nice 5 octave keyboard, clear and unclaterred whereas new Sonar only 2 large unwieldy 2 octave keyboard. For the record.
  5. Good to see that I am not crazy about the oddity in New Sonar's virtual keyboard GUI behaviour compared to Cakewalk by BandLab. Also, I am not looking at a piano VST, I have plenty of excellent piano sounds, but thanks for the suggestion. Maybe it will have to be a workaround if Sonar does not fix its virtual keyboard pronto. Really, the Virtual Keyboard GUI should be a user's choice in octave coverage instead of a mysterious hard coded imposition. To be clear, the built in virtual keyboard is just that and is not a sound VST module. Therefore, it generates a MIDI note message but Cakewalk or Sonar outputs to any desired sound. Very useful for inputting difficult passages note by note...
  6. Opinions but no answers. Presently, and verified, Cakewalk by Bandlab opens 5 octaves of virtual piano which is very convenient for inputting melodies, chords etc mostly without shifting scale. The new Sonar opens the same GUI but with only 2 octaves. This requires constant shifting scales, an unneeded nuisance. In addition, I now find that I cannot edit Velocity in Piano Roll View in the new Sonar, whereas Cakewalk can easily.
  7. Too short. Cakewalk by bandlab had 6 octaves. How to get back full keyboard.
  8. Thank you Kurre. That worked. I thought that the brush set was going to be just that but it turned out to be a modified Standard Kit with a few brush strokes. The tap and the swirl notes were down in the keyboard. Good enough for elementary, easy, smooth rhythms.... Cheers
  9. There is mention in another thread that the TTS-1 brushes can be be accessed via a 041 selection, where as the regular Standard Kit is accessed via 001 selection. The TTS-1 Editor tree shows both selections, plus others, however they do not seem to work. They just just stay Standard Kit. Where are those drum brushes ? If Bandlab retained them, how can they be accessed ? Thank you.
  10. Thanks for the answers. In the meantime, I was pointed to the TTS-1 Edit where one can scroll the Standard Kit content and gives the note and sound. Cheers
  11. Is there a text list of which note plays what drum kit instrument in TTS-1 synth on Standard Kit channel setting. Thank you
  12. In order to address 2 different software synths, I currently use internal Loobe1 and 1 cabled loop through in M-Audio 2x2 midisport module. This provides me with 32 independent Midi channels. Has anyone used successfully 2 cabled loop throughs in M-Audio midisport ? Thanks.
  13. I have auditioned some of he instruments as loaded in Cakewalk with the following results: 1.- Initially, the selected instrument sounds clean. When a new variation of the instrument is selected, notes play with clicks. Returning to the original variation retains the clicks. Reloading the Orchestools synth, the instrument plays clean. All sections behave similarly. 2.- Clarinet only loaded notes from G2 down. 3,- Bassoon only loaded notes from G2 down. 4.- Cello and Bass long notes do not loop smoothly. There is an abrupt restart. 5.- Timpanis are not tuned, difficult to include them in a classical orchestral score. Overall, this is a fine effort and some instruments sound very acceptably for Solo orchestral complement.
  14. Thank you. Download and installation process worked as instructed. Now to audition the instruments.
  15. Sorry for this newbie question, but better to ask than to make dreadful mistakes. When presented with the download page of the Orchestools Sections, at the bottom of each are 3 download buttons. A VST3, a Samples and a Github. I want to download the 4 Sections and use them in Cakewalk by Bandlab. What is the correct download and install procedure ? What do I download ? Thank you.
