  1. I would not overclock the i9-14900k. It is basically overclocked at the factory. Heat issues can degrade the cpu. There are motherboard microcode updates that resolve prior reported degradation issues. With the microcode updates, the i9-14900k is awesome, including for Sonar!
  2. If you VST effects and instruments are not about the Cakewalk/Sonar Vsts, you should be fine in that area. I did not read anything about free Sonar that would not allow 3rd party VSTs to work. I hope this chart helps you: https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/49546667908121-Sonar-Free-Tier-vs-Membership-Tier
  3. Apply Trimming is a great feature. I always create a backup before doing it. Sometimes, that trimmed off data is needed later.
  4. Thank you! Article is by our friend, Craig Anderton, by the way!
  5. I hear you. I have no idea how many VST synth users are using midi controllers, but if they are, it is nice that there are midi 2.0 midi controllers coming out, like the Roland.
  6. Yes. And Roland and Yamaha are already releasing some and planning on this transition. Example: Here is a Roland midi controller with software ready for 2.0: https://www.roland.com/us/products/a-88mk2/ And Yamaha: The Yamaha MONTAGE M series, including the M8X, support MIDI 2.0
  7. Decades ago, I went to Cakewalk because it was a leader in midi. Even Windows has been updated for it. Are there plans to have midi 2.0 in Sonar?
  8. Does New Sonar have midi 2.O? There appear to more more improvements in midi 2.0 than I thought.
  9. This is in the quote: "new color theme customization capabilities." I think we are talking about semantics here. The Bakers know what is wanted. Either we can make changes to get colors and contrasts that are desired for a better workflow, or we can't. At this point, I trust the Bakers. I have been with them for a long journey! And the fact that they are not rushing it, is also a good sign imho. BTW, even a so-called "theme editor" as a title, does not mean all elements of a theme can be edited.
  10. Yes. They posted about working on a theme editor. It is probably a super major update and therefore they have to be careful not to mess up with the audio portion. So, yes, I hope it is soon, but I also hope they take their time to get it right!
  11. I would think it has other benefits too, especially for playing VI instruments. It also has some pretty cool sounds in it! Enjoy!
  12. As stated in the link above about their bi-weekly update, the Bakers are aware of what you are saying. It sounds like they are sending it to the beta team soon. I know you think it should be prioritized over audio optimizations, but at the same time, no one should want them to rush this as we do not want the audio part to go backward in any way. I am going to repeat their update below the dotted line, since it appears that it cannot show up too much on this forum! ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Posted October 20 Welcome to our bi-weekly update! We're committed to keeping you in the loop about our progress, much of which is shaped by community suggestions. This week, we're excited to share some key updates on Sonar. Color Customization A simple yet effective approach to color theming is well underway. We know it’s important to personalize your workspace, not just for aesthetics, but for creating a comfortable environment that reduces eye strain and helps you stay in the creative space longer. We're designing a system that is both powerful and easy to use. We're closing in on the first edition and expect to release it to the beta team shortly. Plugin Updates We're continuing to enhance our suite of plugins based on user feedback. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in the works: Long awaited updates for the LP EQ and LP Multiband are almost here. Retooled for modern systems, these plugins provide exceptional sonic transparency for surgical, artifact-free adjustments. The Adaptive Limiter is also getting an overhaul and will be deployed alongside the LPs. This power trio will bring a powerful, mastering-grade toolkit to your mixes, available later in Q4. Soon, you'll see spectrum analyzer overlays integrated into some of our Core effects. This will provide immediate, precise visual feedback right where you need it, making it faster to identify frequency issues and make informed EQ decisions. Early Access Returns! We are reintroducing the Early Access program, which will be available to Next and Sonar users. This will help us gather more pre-release feedback before final deployment. It also reinforces our commitment to transparency and building the future of Sonar together with you. On the Horizon We’re cooking up some other new features that we can’t wait to put in your hands: Soon you'll be able to probe various tap points with integrated signal analysis, helping you visualize your audio's journey in real-time and troubleshoot routing issues with ease and precision. Global app search is in the works, designed to get you to your tools faster than ever. Get ready to turbocharge your workflow! We’ll be back in two weeks with another update. Thank you for your continued support and feedback! Best regards, The Cakewalk Team
  13. Works for me! Thank you!
  14. Is there a video on how to use ripple edit? I just did a project today where I inserted 4 measures. Then I had to move the tempo changes in the tempo map by four measures. It was easy using the copy special function and just copying the tempo map and then pasting it where it needed to moved to. I suppose if there were tempo changes in many parts of the composition, having ripple edit might be faster.
  15. Yes to David's post. But if you do use copy and paste, make sure you select copy special (not just copy), and click on the box for tempo changes, and then if you paste it to the measure(s) you want, the tempo changes will copy with it.
