Getting ready to check out the 3 videos posted in this thread on pg.1/2 about the Sonar installation now, then (as I mentioned above)will be setting up a new thread w/some of the stuff I'm still looking to better understand if necessary, would welcome replies from people who've been posting on this current one as we all continue to gradually familiarize ourselves w/things....
-
@Jonathan Sasor Appreciate the continued clarification....if I'm understanding you correctly here, since it's already been recognized/works correctly in the most recent CbBL update version I'm currently using, when I select the option that allows for all my current settings to migrate over during the new Sonar installation/setup,this should also "seamlessly transition" along w/ everything else....
-
Jonathan- Much thx for taking the time to reply to my post above man;great to know you're part of the discussion over here and that we have BL staff people like yourself/MS McLeod/Noel etc providing the kind of factual info all of us still familiarizing ourselves w/everything involved in this migration > Sonar can rely on.... Planning on setting up a new thread along the lines of the current one focusing in on some specific aspects of the transition process I've been unable to find clear concise info about within the next few days.....however to continue going over the Drum Replacer situation in light of John V.'s posts above (which led to my starting to wonder about things again after "breathing a sigh of relief" immediately after going over your reply)> Leaving aside the directly-related subject of DR itself being available for usage as part of the ARA options in the Sonar free tier momentarily ,my actual situation is a current project which uses DR and where some of the individual drum kit tracks have been bounced while others are still active DR tracks(i.e.liked the sample layering results I got for the tambourine so this has been bounced;still working on the sound design for kick/snare so these are DR tracks)... Been focusing more on some other aspects of the track completion process w/a working drum track in place-so my concern is being able to continue working on things in Sonar w/"everything intact" (as so many of the thread postings I've been seeing over here/in the various Facebook Cakewalk groups suggest will be the case)vs.some kind of "worst case scenario" where the project opens in Sonar without DR and I have to figure out how to get things re-established before being able to continue.... As your time permits I'd really appreciate the opportunity to keep going over this stuff and get a full understanding of what's involved....and once again much thx for making yourself available over here...
-
Hey John!Glad to see you're still actively involved over here helping us all figure everything out.... Like everyone else who just found out what's going on re-Aug.1,been studying all the threads here to better understand things... Since I have a couple of current projects using both Drum Replacer and SI Strings, would really appreciate some clarification re-above i.e.- "No "= they won't be available in Sonar free tier OR "No "= that won't be the case and, just like people have been posting re-the TTS-1,as long as you already have these installed in CbBL,they'll "seamlessly migrate" along w/everything else...

Question about setting up the AudioSnap palette's "Groove Quantize" grid.......
Gary Shore posted a question in Q&A
Have a track I'm working on setting up a natural sounding groove/feel in and just started looking at the AudioSnap palette's "groove quantize" features(both Quantize to Pool and Groove Quantize)..... I'm wondering how people approach setting up the grid using the 2 dialog boxes as far as the Window/Strength settings etc;been trying to understand this stuff in terms of musical note values and how to configure things so the result reflects the timing of the Pool/Groove Quantize source track while still maintaining some of the aspects of the track this is being applied to... So far I've just been using the Quantize to Pool feature but planning on seeing how the Groove Quantize works as well, appreciate being able to find out which of these 2 people prefer, the possible difference in the end result etc, along w/the tech workflow people over here use when dealing w/this stuff... -
Hey much thanks for posting this, scook is the man and was glad to see he replied w/info;actually found a tutorial a little while after I posted this showing this kind of stuff where various plugins/FX racks were disabled.... BTW my focus w/both these aspects is on overall CPU effect on the Project and it being 100% functional in the DAW vs.latency specifically...
-
Greetings to all and as always much thanks for everyone's help in the past over here... After being into the DAW for a while, finally getting into the kinds of advanced mixing approaches I've been studying, started working w/a bunch of new plugins and came up against something I wasn't able to find info about so posting this thread...wonder if people here could help me figure out something basic as far as plugins/CPU.... In terms of having a plugin installed in the FX rack,if the plugin itself is disabled, will it still be affecting the CPU just by virtue of it's being there? What about when the FX rack is bypassed? A secondary question concerns clips as far as the CPU hit involved in having a bunch of clips/editing vs.bouncing these down....also how having ASP clips along w/standard ones factors into things.... TBCH have a lot of stuff I've been working on getting an understanding of like the above and so will be posting more frequently over here....
-
Wasn't aware of that, much thanks for the heads up man.. Anyways you know this is a great forum....although I'm usually only over here when I feel I really need to bring something I'm dealing w/to the groups' attention and get some invaluable feedback,I'm always doing Google searches for threads over here relating to whatever I'm focusing on that I want to get some insight into and invariably finding great posts/replies..so adding this to the available resources(despite it's being based initially on a pre-AM coffee befuddled state)is a good idea, agree 100% w/your point...
-
Hey John!!How goes it man? You know like I posted above in reply to Mark who quickly set me straight on exactly what was going on yesterday AM ,was getting ready to delete this thread but now I'm glad I didn't get around to it until just now as I didn't know about this new one of yours although I have your playlists/links all saved in my go-to Cakewalk info email folder-much thanks for posting the link, just took a quick look at it and saw you also get into some other stuff I'm interested in as well...will be adding this to the tutorials I'm studying to figure out how everything works w/this...BTW now that you've posted this will be leaving the thread up w/a different title/updating the initial post...
-
Hey Mark!! Man much thanks for pointing this out, made my day...haven't used this for a long time, just realized it would be great for some stuff I'm focusing on,checked out a bunch of tutorials/info and had everything ready to go in terms of refreshing my knowledge of how to use it but had neglected this aspect of things as I was thinking in terms of plugins/FX this AM...no sooner did I read your reply then I re-opened the DAW,checked it under Region FX instead and right away saw everything worked as it was supposed to...again thank you for seeing this and posting right away...... Based on the no-brainer aspects of this I'd inadvertently neglected while still having my AM coffee when I was getting into this stuff earlier, will be deleting this thread, just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your posting, along w/all your past help over here man...
-
Updating this as,although the original thread was posted after I mistakenly kept trying to install Drum Replacer as an FX plugin instead of setting it up as a Region FX(see below if you also made the same mistake and like me were wondering what was going on),instead of deleting this thread(see reply to Mark McLeod below)decided to leave it up as John Vere, one of the more knowledgeable folks over here who's helped me figure things out,has just made a new tutorial on using Drum Replacer which he posted the link to below...looking forward to checking it out,I'm sure that like all his other excellent videos that are among my go-to sources of info for everything Cakewalk,it'll be another great resource for those of us developing our overall skillset.... Posting over here again hoping some of the people who've helped me figure things out in the past will know what's going on/what to do- Just went to load Drum Replacer and kept getting the message screen shown- Not sure what's going on as I checked the Plugin Manager, saw it listed, checked the plugin properties box there with no problem,re-scanned everything anyways... Plugin actually shows in the FX Rack but same message screen comes up... Last thing I wanted to have to deal with as I'm planning on using it for a bunch of tracks, actually working on some other stuff, not in the DAW today but wanted to check the info for another plugin and just thought of taking a look at Drum Replacer as well when this happened...glad I did think to check it vs.finding out about this when I went to start working on the Projects where I'd been planning on using it.... Found this older thread mentioning the same "exception code" but not familiar w/what's involved here...hoping there's an easy fix someone can let me know about....
-
For people who see this thread since I figured things out yesterday after the first reply, interested in any info re-above copy/paste.... (WASA(B)/(P)I)focus notwithstanding!! as I'm interested in understanding the kinds of things you have to do when you get the "Audio Engine Dropout" message w/the different numbers....
-
Thx for posting the link, have checked it out already along w/many others by Mike Enjo who's one of my go-to people for everything;is the stuff I'm focusing on here shown @ a given time in the video?Been a while since I've seen it...
-
Bdickens- Excuse me man!!Actually was out at the local Smart and Final earlier and was checking dry roasted edamame which I usually get,the only kind they had was WASABI...hence the confusion..my bad...but appreciate you posting and if you have anything relevant i.e.in terms of the results of the WASAPI I posted above etc,be interested man as TBCH just familiarizing myself w/this stuff..
-
All good-this worked but led to some audio engine dropout problems-buffer size was @ max so couldn't increase it re -#1> Audio processing took longer than the buffers allotted time slice. Increase the Buffer Size value in Edit > Preferences > Audio - Driver Settings. however did a Wave Profiler WASABI scan- ==== High Definition Audio Device (0 in, 1 out) ==== 8000 Hz: not available 11025 Hz: not available 22050 Hz: not available 44100 Hz: Channels 1,2 -- Bits 16,24,24(4 bytes),32 -- OK 48000 Hz: Channels 1,2 -- Bits 16,24,24(4 bytes),32 -- OK 88200 Hz: Channels 1,2 -- Bits 16,24,24(4 bytes),32 -- OK 96000 Hz: Channels 1,2 -- Bits 16,24,24(4 bytes),32 -- OK 176400 Hz: not available 192000 Hz: Channels 1,2 -- Bits 16,24,24(4 bytes),32 -- OK 352800 Hz: not available 384000 Hz: not available which seems to have fixed the problem... Any continued feedback about everything in this thread appreciated.....

Hey Kurre!! Good to see you're still actively involved over here-again appreciate your replies on my threads last year asking about Melodyne/Jamstix4-fortunately got my skill set together w/both.... Thx for the info above-thought that was what what was going on..will check this out a little later on once I get back to things..... Glad to know I can add you to the list of "computer-focused stuff"experts over here I can check things with....like I mentioned above, been focusing on this stuff in the context of file storage.....
-
Back over here looking for some feedback about something new but beforehand wanted to thank everyone again who took the time to help me figure things out relating to storage/moving Project Files a few weeks back;as I posted then, great to know there's a supportive knowledgeable community of Cakewalk experts over here to check things with.... Anyways- Installed Arturia Analog ab Lite a couple of weeks ago and been focusing in on it,getting a sense of what's what...initially I was playing some of the default Media Browser files through it,drag-dropping them to a track etcetc, but found a keyboard-focused sample pack I figured would give me a better idea of what the different instruments/presets sounded like.... First time I've gotten into this and being new to the computer OS-specific stuff involved, decided to post this thread instead of looking around online for the info..know I've seen the steps involved explained in one of the many softsynth-focused tutorials I've studied and have the link to saved in one of my email folders but since I wasn't sure which one..... Just took a look at the folder in my Downloads, saw that they're wav.files except for one subfolder w/MIDI files and was glad to see that as luck would have it they're all Cakewalk MIDI so I'm sure things will be compatible.... Checking Downloads in the Media Browser I didn't see them listed, only a few of the Downloads folders were there(fortunately, as I have a lot of them!!)....also "Extract"kept flashing when I checked the samples folder itself.... Wasn't sure how to proceed, whether extracting things is necessary, and where to move the folder/what to do(Preferences settings?)to get them up and active in the Media Browser....rather than trying some of the options that came to mind(i.e.copying the folder to the Music folder or another location instead of it's current Downloads location)figured checking w/people over here would be a better choice.... Update-checked the manual and realized all I had to do was select the "Show all files and folders" Media Browser option-selected it and saw it the folder, clicked on it and saw it there by itself OK right away...but still glad I set up this thread as getting some ideas about all this stuff(Analog Lab Lite/Media Browser etc)from people for whom dealing w/things like this is a no-brainer is still something I'm interested in.... Actually still wondering if there's a way to get the parent folder to same location as the other similar folders-Audio Library/MIDI Groove Clips/PTN MIDI Files/Sample Content(this would probably be where it would go I'm thinking)that show up in the dropdown menu when you click the arrow on the right there in the Media Browser instead of where it is now(part of Downloads still).... Continuing-saw this in the Reference Guide- "Save Content Location Preset . Save the current folder as a Content Location preset. By default, the folder name is used as the preset name, but you can type any desired name before you click the Save Content Location Preset button." Clicked on the square icon at the top right where you do this, saw that it's now is on the list referred to in the previous paragraph but when I clicked on it,instead of opening I got the pop-up- "The selected content location referenced missing files-C/User/Owner/Downloads/(folder name)-zip." Double-checked/re-opened the folder itself in the Media Browser, verified all the subfolders were there..is the pop-up related to what I was asking about earlier above re-"Extract"....???

Hey Shane _B!! Appreciate you posting here man,was hoping this was still an active thread...looking forward to getting feedback/tips about using it from everyone....actually going through the manual right now and finding info about some of the stuff I was noticing from messing around w/it yesterday using both the browser Media files as well as the built-in patterns/Song builder.... BTW just got a PM about the OP,my condolences....

Just happened to find this thread and was glad to see some of the people who've gone out of their way to help me figure things out over here involved in the discussion(David Baay/Scook).... Started working w/Jamstix 4 free version over the last few days, just familiarizing myself w/it so it's great to find out you guys are also using it/familiar w/the ins-and-outs of things.....
-
Robert/John/Treesha- Good to see you guys continuing to post over here...agree 100% w/what you said Robert... John, along w/checking out that video this AM which really made everything very easy to conceptualize.went over your last reply above and was focusing on the stuff relating to cloud storage as this is also something I'm looking into in this context...would be interested in more re- Treesha- Just saw your post above once I posted this so decided to edit it to thank you again for this kind of info, really like the focus on backups you're stressing and see the logic here now as well....
-
I'm thinking you're seconding my idea of moving the Project folder from the C drive to external storage to free up my laptop storage and then back as needed....I'm less focused on the "back-up" aspects of things here and more on the idea of moving it out of the C drive sucessfully, although, along the lines of Treesha's approach to having backups,I'm planning on making a copy of the Project folder in the external storage and leaving it there each time I move the original back to the C drive Cakewalk Projects folder to start working on it again, then repeating this process so in addition to the default Auto-Save copy I'll also have a complete copy of the Project file as a back-up in external storage, and repeating this process each time I finish work on the Project,i.e.deleting the previous copy in the external storage and replacing it w/a copy of the current version of the Project.... Also much thanks for the info about how things work in terms of plugins/storage...
-
Scook- Was glad to see the notification that you just replied here to what I'm asking about....and clarified exactly the stuff I needed to understand... Based on- -would you suggest the approach of keeping the C drive Cakewalk Projects folder in it's current location and just moving individual projects themselves to the external storage then back to the main Cakewalk Projects folder itself to work on? IOW the C drive Cakewalk Projects folder would be functioning as a kind of default "container" Cakewalk knows to find a project in and can be used seamlessly to do things vs.trying to open the Project from external storage? I like the idea of this process re- as,being new to using various third-party plugins/VSTi's etcetc I'd prefer to keep things in as intact a form as possible so Cakewalk will re-open a saved Project in the same state as it was in when it was saved, with all the plugins/settings parameters etc as is vs.getting involved in any computer OS-specific processes that might inadvertently affect this kind of stuff..... Again scook man really appreciate your continued feedback over here as,although on Fri.when first posted the thread I was more or less "in the dark"about this stuff, now thanks to you,Treesha,John,Robert, and Will I'm starting to have a much better sense of things....
-
Robert- Thanks for the continued info man... Here's a few of the things you mentioned I'd appreciate clarification about- With this second one, does it follow that using the same PC,just focusing on moving the Project Folder for a given project from it's default C drive Cakewalk Project Files location to external storage, the freezing tracks process won't be needed and things will happen automatically once the Project is reopened in the DAW,i.e.everything will be the same as far as "plugin moves and VSTi information"?
-
-instead of getting involved in copying each of the subfolders within the Project folder? Then will I be able to open the main Project folder from the external storage or have Cakewalk do this automatically as if it was going to the usual C drive Cakewalk Projets location,or does this require some further action using Preferences?...i.e.I'm understanding Cakewalk recognizes/opens a cwp.right away from Teesha's post the ther day descibing her processes, what about the main Project Folder itself?Does this work along the lines of a .bun file as Robert and others have described?
