Thanks so much Bjorn!
When I was a kid my father always talked about wanting to have a bust of Beethoven on the piano, but for whatever reason, he never got one. So, when we pulled the trigger and got the new piano a few years ago, the bust was one of the first things that I got. I think of my father whenever I sit down to play and see it
Thanks so much Timbo! In that other thread, I was more referring to my own compositions and productions. It's much easier to sound good when someone like James Booker is giving you the notes 😄
Thanks! I've only been to New Orleans once. Went the Preservation Jazz Hall while I was there and absolutely loved it. So glad I captured the sound of home for you
I feel the same about my stuff I really liked the song. The distorted synth was cool and I thought the vocal fit the vibe. Drums were very cool. The only thing that didn't quite work for me was the synth line that came in at about 1:30. It didn't seem to fit well. On the other hand when the theme came in again at around 2:00 with the guitar it had a much better feel to it. Sorry, I'm not sure how to articulate more clearly what was off in the synth line for me.
This is fantastic. The guitar sounds excellent and the supporting keys are really well done. I agree with the comments that a sax here would help and with Wookie's comment about inspiration.
Thanks. I recorded Carolina Shout several years ago, and have been thinking of redoing it with a video. Unfortunately, it's far harder than Pop's Dilemma!
Here's my recording of Carolina Shout in case your interested.
