Thanks for your suggestions. I have first tried to change the settings of audio buffers. As you said I've increased the reading and writting buffers progressively up to 2048 ko. Unfortunately this didn't changed the issue... All my files (*.cwp and *.mid) are stored on my SSD. I always store them in local and not on a network. My AV (Bitdefender) contain an exception on the folder of my music files (my cakewalk projects and midi files). All the inner folders are then also excluded for AV scan. I tried again and when the option "Allow Only One Open Project at a Time" is checked in the file preference settings, the problem never occurs. That's really strange... My PC configuration hasn't changed since several years. I was using the free Cakewalk version during those years and I didn't have this problem. The issue occured some monthes ago I don't know why. I have bought recently the Cakewalk Sonar hopping it will get rid of the issue. Do you have any ideas what could lead to such strange behavior ? Thanks.

Thank you msmcleod for your answer. Effectively, it works now. Nevertheless, this lead to another problem... Please read the strange behavior I've had in this topic I've written some weeks ago. This is not necessary to read all the discussions. Only my initial message explains the issue. When I uncheck the "Allow Only One Open Project at a Time" button this lead to the behavior I've explained in my first topic: between around each 5 to 15 seconds I get this waiting blue circle turning. I cannot make any actions during several seconds and I have to wait it stops. This is really frustating to be blocked in my work untimely...! It's never mind I have only one opened file or several, the problem is the same. Do you know how I could solve this issue ? This is strange Cakewalk Sonar proposes a restriction to allow only one open project at a time... I'm wondering if this is done for some users to avoid this bug/behavior... Thank you in advance. Stéphane

Hello, I was using since more than 10 years cakewalk (free version). I have bought Cakewalk Sonar those last days. I have installed all the updates. I am have now a problem I didn't have with the free version. Before it was possible to open at the same time for instance a project (cwp file) and several midi files. It was really usefull to make some copies/pastes or navigate between each windows/opened files in a same Cakewalk instance. Now with Cakewalk Sonar, I am not able to do this... Each time I want to open a new file, it close automatically the current file. If I go in the menu "Window", only the current file is shown... That's really boring and complicate my work ! Have you also been faced with this behavior and how did you managed to solve it ? I cannot imagine Sonar doesn't allow anymore this... Thanks a lot in advance. Stéphane

Cakewalk Sonar untimely blocked for severals seconds
Descamps replied to Descamps's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Thank you for your answers. First, I've tried the latencymon and I have a message that everything was working fine (same when Cakewalk was blocked with the waiting blue circle turning). Also, I've never changed the automatic saving settings. I've checked and all is at 0. Before the problem occured there the settings were the same. I've tried to activate the automatic saving procedure and when it saves (for instance each 2 modifications), the saving time is very fast and the behavior is different from the problem I have. Concerning the MS Compatibility Telemetry I would assume I would have the problem everytime and in any of the softwares I am using on my PC. Here it's not the case (only in Cakewalk). Also, I wouldn't like to make any changes in the windows Telemetry. I fear if I do a mistake and lead to a instable PC... If you don't see another cause and solution I will try to uninstall Cakewalk completly and reinstall it. I will delete all the folders Cakewalk leaves same if the uninstall process is completed. You're right Jeremy I would do it carrefully by making backups. -
Cakewalk Sonar untimely blocked for severals seconds

Hello Promidi and Jim, Thank you for your advices. To answer your questions I have the problem with all project songs. I've tried to exclude all plug-ins but the issue still remains. Promidi, I've excluded all the Cakewalk folders that the runtime antivirus could scan and I've checked all the advices you've suggested me but the problem remains... What is strange it's that the waiting blue circle (that block any user actions, ex. mouse clicking) is happening only while running Cakewalk. In all others softwares the behavior doesn't happen... In the Cakewalk parameters I have already tried to set buffer of my soundcard to "fast", "balanced" and "proof" without success. I am using a synthetizer connected on midi. The reading and recording of a song is working properly without stops. I am not using ASIO4ALL. For information, I am using Windows 10. My soundcard is a behringer U-PHORIA UMC204HD. Do you have other advices ? In the preferences/configuration of Cakewalk, under Audio and configuration file I've seen lots of parameters can be changed. I've never modified anything here. Is there something to change ? Thank you in advance. Stephane -

Hello, First, I have to mention that I'm french so please be comprehensive for my english 😉 It make several years that I am using cakewalk sonar. I am found of this very good software. Unfortunately I am faced with a behaviour I have since several monthes and I don't know how to solve it. It is very boring to work with this behaviour/bug. In fact, when I am working on a project around between each 10 th seconds or 30th seconds I have the waiting blue circle which shows the application is waiting for something. I am then completly blocked and I need to wait several seconds it stops. Just before the application become usable I have the error message "Not responding". I have tried several settings changes but the problem still remains. My PC configuration has not changed. Before it was working correctly. I would realy appreciate the help of someone who have already experienced such a problem and managed to solve it. My configuration is: AMD Ryzen 2700 Motherboard: asus prime x470-pro 16 GO Ram (only 10 Go are used while running cakewalk) SSD 1 To Cakewalk Sonar Version 2024.12 (build 125, 64 bits). Thanks a lot in advance ! Have a nice day Stephane -
