  1. I might be interested IF the Free Sonar edition makes full use of multi-core processors. I'm 51 years in the computer business this year. Rest assured there is a whole new crop of bugs in Free Sonar, just like EVERY other new piece of software. The various Microsoft runtime libraries are constantly updated due to the endless bugs found in them. The failure of Object Oriented code is a bug in the runtime is a bug for every user of that run time. Those who write their apps to the latest and greatest runtimes are subject to the bugs in those latest and greatest runtimes.
  2. My hardware and OS are static in my DAW. I don't require updates for either, nor for my WAVES plugins. I keep a GHOST image of my installed DAW in case of system loss. The question posted here applies to me: I start up my DAW, CWBB can no longer authenticate and shuts down. I refuse subscription based products such as Office 365, and favor owning installation media with a license key. This will always work except for rare conditions where the OS is new enough that it renders my product unlaunchable.
  3. I use CWBB version 2024.12 (125) update 29.9.0.125 As a previous Sonar user, I am simply delighted with every aspect of CWBB. I find that imported WAV files play +3dB louder in CWBB than on disk. I use the paid version of Youlean Loudness Meter 2, (2.5.10) to measure integrated LUFS. For testing, I imported a WAV of a bluegrass banjo track into a virgin CWBB project. Using Youlean, I adjusted the integrated LUFS to my normal working LUFS value. I exported the WAV with all gains and faders at zero, and no effects in the project. Youlean file analysis shows the exported WAV having the identical LUFS it was created with. After importing that new file back into CWBB, Youlean shows it exactly at +3.0dB louder. I cannot figure out the reason for this.
