I have extra toms and cymbals on my TD-17 that are hooked up with splitters, so my first try at mapping was a challenge to say the least. I spent literal hours hand-mapping custom kits and rerouting instruments to make the split zones work, only to have the settings disappear or change next time I went to play. Then I discovered that mapping thru the "Midi In/Edrums" section maps your trigger to a SD3 drum or cymbal on every kit, whereas the "Midi Mapping Keys" on the right hand side, (along with all the other settings in that section), are just for the specific preset kit you are working on. Once I realized that it was much easier even while having to reroute mapping for the split zones. But it was making me nuts for awhile there.
