Free Helix 3.50 Update for All Helix and HX Processors
TheSteven replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
My installation was 5 minutes at the longest, probably more like 3. I ended up installing it twice cause I thought I must have accidentally bolloxed up the install for it to wrap up in the time that it did. -

Free Helix 3.50 Update for All Helix and HX Processors
TheSteven replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Woot! ^^^What he said -
Meh... I soured on Motu long ago - bought one of the original Ultralights in 2007. Lemon from the moment I opened the box - device had issues, audio had issues, drivers had issues. Support strung me along for months submitting endless log files, testing new drivers, etc... Finally replaced it with another DAC and never looked back. Never sold it because it didn't feel right ruining someone else's day for a few bucks even though at the time funds were in short supply. I'm sure the new generation is much more reliable, can turn turds into gold, etc. but MOTU permanently lost a customer with their shenanigans.

Agreed. There are now so many saturation/drive/transistor or diode mode clipping/transformer immolation plugins that overlap each other in various ways that I doubt if this one offers anything unique to my collection other than it's by SSL. Still FOMO may get me to pull the purchase trigger... Edit: If you're interested in demoing the plugin: https://store.solidstatelogic.com/plug-ins/ssl-fusion-transformer-plug-in?tab=freetrial

Soundtoys freebies (and the discounted mini versions when on sale) can get you nice discounts on the full suite if/when you decide to go that way. So they are worth collecting even if that particular plugin isn't to your taste.

Did the same (well maybe not a 'ton' of merch)!

Over. Missed seeing this last weekend.

waiting for Novum price to drop...

Doubt it. (The following vitriolic opinion is mine, YMMV) McDSP is a MAC shop that only started supporting Windows for the money and then reluctantly. Every upgrade is a charge, for example ec300 v6 to v7 which (from what I recall) mainly if not only added v3 support - yours for only $29 I stopped using their plugins and haven't missed them.

The warnings are far from horrendous. They could be popups that slap you every time you load the forum that you then have to click on to dismiss! The alternative is to have a fat paragraph on top similar to what's on the Coffee House forum but I suspect that would eat half the screen or more... Personally I think if you're going to have posting protocols that are specific to a particular forum (or at least more applicable to the Deals forum than the others) that they should be posted upfront to avoid any ambiguity.

for Xils Lab XILS 5000 Vocoder the code GROUP saves you even more, comes to $41.16
-
Anyone compare XILS 5000 Vocoder against current stock by other developers?
-
Looks like Blue Sky can probably replace 60 to 90% of my reverb plugins - if so, it's worth $199. Can I afford to spend $199 on a plugin right now? No.

Still waiting for a decent sale price for upgrading Legacy...

Spectrasonics instruments can now record themselves
TheSteven replied to bitflipper's topic in Instruments & Effects
^^ The you run Omnisphere or Trillian (probably true for Keyscape as well) standalone versions they check for updates BUT you won't see that there's an update or get notified until the NEXT time you run them. I.E. some table, file or registry entry gets updated after the load information is read. Been this way on every computer I've owned that I had Spectrasonics installed on. Willing to bet it's because they don't want to add even more of a lag to the time it takes the standalone to load. I've complained to Spectrasonics about it but apparently there's not been enough user complaints to warrant their rewriting the startup code. So I always run Omnisphere twice (because it checks for updates on the others as well) when checking for updates. -
S1, Cubase, Mixbus aren't posting here directly. If I subscribe to receiving update notices from a developer then knowledge of what is being referred to can be assumed. If I'm posting information to people who may be unaware of what I'm talking about a bit of description is helpful. 2nd point is absurd. Not being aware of a product has nothing to do with technical competence.

Hey Larry, Hope all is well. Is anyone here using Nuendo?
-
Sorry - realize that my reply might come off as rude. But you shouldn't have to follow a link just to find out if it's something that might interest you. In this case the link posted is to an update page that still doesn't say what Ardour is until over a page length down (yeah you might guess it's a DAW but it also could be a sample manager). Ardour is an open-source DAW supporting Linux, macOS and Windows.
-
And why should we care? (This is a question about WTF is Ardour, not about the quality of Ardour) Maybe some additional info would be helpfull; like is it a banjo emulation or feminine hygiene product or something else? Ardour the DAWntless

Arturia will as of the next release only support CLAP.

Re: Voices of the Empire https://www.soundsonline.com/vocals/voices-of-the-empire Web page says: So if you have OPUS you now VOTE? Probably only applies to subscription... Edit: Seeing this wording on other libraries as well so must apply to subscription.
