I'm not sure how you received 808 samples from the original ROMs - all the 808 sounds were synthesized. On the 909, the hats and cymbals were samples.
Almost everything I do is based around a minimal set up of Audiorealism's ABL3 and ADM, and some samples. Although I will often end up with 2 or 3 instances of ABL3 playing different 303 lines.
In the end, I couldn't help myself.
I was pleased to find that it cost me £15 including VAT.
I've just got to remember to install it and actually use the thing.
I installed the original Nepheton, had a quick play around, couldn't figure out how to get it do to want I wanted, and then never used it again. The workflow was a pig.
I went back to using Audiorealism's ADM, which I use for all my 606/808/909 (and drum sampler) needs.
$19 seems a real bargain, but the number of "bargains" I've acquired for less than $20 dollars and never used is ridiculous.
