  1. I looked around all over here and I could not find that statement. I do understand that 2023.09 was the last planned update of Cakewalk by BandLab. But I could find nothing about downloads going unavailable. There was a short time when it was a bit difficult to find them, but they are still available. I don't think Cakewalk.next is a replacement and I have no idea where Sonar.next is on the horizon. I also don't understand comments about time limits on CwB. Mine is activated and there's no indication that a re-activation is required at any time in the future. The `Help | About Cakewalk...` just provides a "CBCO-1.00-..." serial and says "Activated by Cakewalk." I did sign in to BandLab as part of first-run. (I still have my original Cakewalk account, but I don't think that has anything to do with this.)
  2. I'm betting (not much) that Cakewalk for Bandlab will not expire. It may not receive any further updates, but it will sit there nicely being room-mates with lagacy.SONAR and then Sonar.next. I don't think Cakewalk.next getting to a full-up stable release will impact that.
  3. Yes, when I finally replace my ancient (in audio years) Komplete Audio 6, I have my eye on this one.
  4. the `.cwp` is a binary format that is evidently not MIDI or RIFF or any of the obvious structured forms that are around. Depending on how much of the file survives truncation, it might be possible to recover some of it. The problem is having a hex/binary editor and also know how to decode the format. Unfortunately, there was never provision of enough information about the format to know how to do that. See http://forum.cakewalk.com/Is-there-a-reference-for-the-CWP-file-format-m1805578.aspx
  5. I don't have Session Percussionist, so I can't verify anything in practice. However, the Native Instruments site says that it requires Kontakt Player or Kontakt (Pro) versions 7.7 and above. I also see, from the manual, that there are 5 console strips for the percussion "players", and they have individual volume and related controls. Have you manipulated those? I presume these might show up as sub instruments of the Session Percussionist "arrangement". Or not. If they do, they might have individual console strips. The Kontakt 7 manual describes the use of multiple instances of Kontakt with this text: "The plug-in version of KONTAKT allows you to use it as a virtual instrument inside your sequencer or DAW. This allows you to run multiple instances of KONTAKT, alongside other sound generators and effect plug-ins. Each instance can be triggered by MIDI data from within your sequencer, with the audio output fed directly into the signal flow of your virtual mixer." I have not dug in to find out what the rules are for a `multi` and what you might or might not have control over. I would think that the easy case is one instrument per Kontakt instance, which should give you individual console strips to mix with in your Cakewalk by BandLab project. Does this ring any useful bells?
  6. It took me a moment to recognize SPLAT as SONAR Platinum :). I'm guessing that Cakewalk.next is not part of the family, according to the announcement. The same announcement suggests that Cfb, SPLAT, and the BandLab Sonar.next will co-exist, which means the common assets will continue to co-exist. I already noticed that for the first two. PS: And BandLab preserving the legacy internet materials and the authorization system strikes me as good news. If it was up to me, that would remain the case until at least beyond where BandLab's Sonar.next achieves parity with CfB and SPLAT.
  7. When you open the latest CCC your user ID should show up in the top bar, on the left of the settings gear. I don't recall if I had to authenticate with the installer or not when I upgraded to the Bandlab version of CCC. I do know when I click on my name it will link to (https://legacy.cakewalk.com/My-Account) . If you have held onto your Cakewalk user and password information, you can log in there and that might also do the job. Also, If you are able to login there, you will see a button for downloading the now-supported CCC.
  8. I don't think so, although it has some updated common components. I was told it is best to install CbB after SONAR Platinum since CbB updates to some components shared by both. Hold onto both of them. When BandLab comes out with their version of Sonar eventually, that will coexist with CbB and SONAR PLATINUM. Then we can migrate slowly or not. (Cakewalk.next is not part of that family, according to the announcement for it.)
  9. I thought my Platinum was gone forever so I uninstalled what I could. Then I discovered that there is a CCC replacement and that's needed because Platinum and other things were moved to legacy.cakewalk.com. The CCC 1.1.8 worked fine although I went through a bunch of reinstalls to get Platinum up and running. It operates side-by-side with Cakewalk by BandLab just fine also.
  10. I did that. Thanks for the tip. The weird thing is my SONAR Platinum was still considered to be installed, but I managed to "reinstall" all of it. I forget how I removed it, and evidently that was not clean enough to fix whatever registry keys or other files were being used to manage the configuration. It's all working.
  11. Good advice. I did reinstall SONAR Platinum and I see the shared file locations. I'll reinstall CbB to get the latest one. Thanks.
  12. Yes, it is clear that there may be no updates following the one earlier this year. I'm going to grab it and see if it helps me with some problems with my reinstalled Platinum after I foolishly deleted it when the Command Center quit working. I should have come here first :). Oh, it looks like "Cakewalk Next" may be the replacement. The CbB download link may be a bit hidden. Oh, no. Cakewalk Next will be a commercial product. However, the Q&A about that provides the link to the CbB download. (sighing)
  13. I meant tutorials I would produce. However, if CbB is being discontinued, I will continue to use my SONAR Platinum so long as legacy files are available. My follow-on question is, what will be a free version from BandLab, if CbB is now discontinued? I would point novices to that when the time comes.
  14. I have a legacy (and life-time) SONAR Producer setup. I would also like to do tutorial and demonstration work for users of BandLab Cakewalk, the free version. Is it possible to install that side-by-side with my SONAR installation? If not, do I have to use a completely different computer to avoid conflicts, especially over registry settings.
