Ample Sound Guitars InstDir Read Error 7
abacab replied to Nigel Mackay's topic in Instruments & Effects
Those VST issues are usually easy to work out. What VST scan folders are you using? If you are sure that the VST is installed, you should find a VST and VST3 file in your folders with these file names: "AmpliTube 5.dll" (This VST 2 file should be found in your assigned VST path). "AmpliTube 5.vst3" (VST3 files are always installed in the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3" by default, and this path does not need to be added to Cakewalk). If you can locate these files, then your install was successful and you need to refresh Cakewalk by doing a reset to the plug-ins in Cakewalk from Edit > Preferences > VST Settings. What do you mean by not showing up in the FX bin? Are the plug-ins available in the Cakewalk Audio FX browser? You need to insert (drag and drop) one of them from the browser into the FX Bin of your instrument track to create an instance of the plug-in for your project. -

I think it's a great deal. I have Amplitube 4 Max and Amplitude 5 CS. My gear from AT 4 imported just fine into the free Amplitube 5 CS. The new UI is a nice improvement! -
I always delete the config file at install when prompted, and never have any issues.

Old Cakewalk Soundstage reverb plugin (Audio FX 3)
abacab replied to Ondrej Ciz's topic in Instruments & Effects
I tried the free version, and with an FX instance inserted on each instrument, was able to effectively place them anywhere on the stage. I'd say it's a keeper! -

KV331 Audio has released a bug fix update for SynthMaster 2.9.9. Many fixes here. The 2 bad patches previously mentioned here have been fixed. The download is posted in your user area. https://www.synthmaster.com/userarea.aspx

I've disable background scans in Cakewalk. Studio One and Ableton Live don't seem to take long to scan. They seem to be a bit more selective with what gets scanned at every startup.

IK Multimedia has a free version of Amplitube 5 CS, including a solid state bass pre-amp, and a 1 x 15 bass vintage cabinet. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube5cs/?p=gear It comes with 39 pieces of gear: -
That's an interesting idea! But not for me yet, as Akai VIP only scans and loads VST2. ? And I had some VST3 that I previously had to block in Cakewalk, and revert to their VST2 version: Waves H-Reverb, Ample Metal Ray, Analog Lab 4, iZotope Iris 2, Rapture Session, u-he Tyrell N6, Z3TA+2. Don't remember all of the issues, but mostly UI bugs, and a few crashes. But haven't retested them in ages, and especially not with the latest version of Cakewalk.

In my experience, lots of programs come up with a single red flag at VirusTotal. I always give them a pass if the other 60 or so scanners show it clean. A red flag from multiple AVs, or one of the major AV companies might cause me to question it. This most likely false positive could happen with any antivirus engine with faulty or overly aggressive heuristics. I check every program I download with VirusTotal before executing it. My firewall also sends a file hash to VirusTotal the first time any program tries to access the net. For example here the "Arturia Software Center Agent" is showing 1/71 at VirusTotal and "c:\windows\system32\sihclient.exe" is showing 1/69.

Toontrack confirmed that you can still add EZD Lite to your account, download, and install it. If you can acquire a serial, which Toontrack does not sell any longer. But I am not sure why anyone would want to buy such an outdated program?

No. Just insert any FX, for example TH3, Amplitube, or Guitar Rig, etc., into the instrument track FX bin. The FX will be added to the audio output of the instrument. -
Yep, I was just referring to re-building the music PC system drive with all of my programs and plugins, which would be the most time consuming to re-build from scratch. I use a simple file sync program to back up changed project sessions and other docs intraday. My drive with sample libraries gets imaged weekly at midnight Sunday. That one takes about almost 2 hours. But in all cases it's "outside of business hours" as the image scheduler wakes the computer up from sleep, runs the image, and lets it get back to sleep. My friendly little assistant!

Glad that helped! I really like the Ample P-Bass. And I have a real Fender P-Bass. If you insert an amp sim plug-in with a bass amp and cabinet, it sounds like a real P-Bass. Plus you can shape the sound a lot more using that. -
That's why I use a reliable disk imaging program that automatically makes a new full system drive image every night! It only takes me about 30 minutes or so to boot from a USB flash recovery drive & restore the entire drive to just like it was the previous night. The image process only requires the learning curve to set it up, then it's set and forget until you need it. Beats spending weeks trying to rebuild my system back to like it was... ?

$94.95 here is probably the cheapest way to get started with the current BIAB Pro edition. Then upgrade at the next sale! The recent sale just ended on Jan 15th.

Last year when I asked AAS about swapping my dupes, they pointed out that Humble Bundle had accidentally issued issued 2 codes for several banks, and so unfortunately would be unable to swap those items. But they did take care of a couple others for me. Never told me flat out that bundled items were not eligible.

Switch keys to select patterns in Scaler2
abacab replied to AndyB01's topic in Instruments & Effects
Plugin Boutique has a good Scaler 2 course available from Producertech that I am watching now. Unlike most free videos with feature overviews, this course has a couple of overview modules to get started, then several workflow modules for hands-on practice. Not available to download, but can be streamed from your account at PIB. https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/6443-Producer-s-Guide-to-Scaler-2 -
Unfortunately that's a short list...

Have you disabled your on-board audio on the PC? In other words is all sound from your PC routed to the audio interface and monitors?

Make Console view appear on main monitor
abacab replied to Bassfaceus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Can't you just un-dock (float) the console and drag it to the monitor that you want it on? Or am I missing something? I have my two displays set up so that I can drag windows back and forth between them as desired. One monitor is mounted right above my MIDI keyboard, and one on my desk where my mouse and PC keyboard is (my primary monitor). If I want a VSTi UI above my controller, it is a simple task to drag it over there and use controller mappings instead of my mouse. -
A chord track should be very handy, especially for the reason that Vernon just mentioned regarding an easy indication of what the chord is at any point in the song. That would help with arranging the song, and composing additional parts. And as you said, it probably would need to be implemented in stages. What I would like to see these stages as: Starting with a chord marker track that can automatically extract the chords from a MIDI track, and fill in the markers with the current chords. Add the ability for MIDI tracks to follow the chord track. Add a chord assistant UI that is aware of the scales/modes, and offers optional chords/variations for use on MIDI or instrument tracks. Ability to extract the chords from an audio track to the chord track. Add the ability for audio tracks to follow the chord track. Of course, #3 could be accomplished by using a plug-in such as Scaler 2, or others. But the rest would need to be built into the DAW. And #5 would be useful to composers who record real instruments rather than MIDI. But this would probably be the most difficult to do well. Although there is probably a way to leverage ARA2 for this.
