Can Audacity play and edit Standard Midi Files? (I'm a dinosaur BTW. I still have reel to reels in my studio) Thanks

I downloaded Cakewalk by Bandlab. It runs fine. I open and play Midi files but when I make a simple change like mute a track and then save the file, the changes to register in the new file.
