  1. I am also a steady cakewalk user. I went to school for audio and was taught on Protools..but I switched to cakewalk because in my opinion the work flow is so much more intuitive. Having said that, Sonar is vastly superior to cakewalk. They are really paying attention to the small details… something as small as having start and end markers…things overall just work smoother…. that’s why I have great faith in the direction of Sonar…it’s helping me forget about how Gibson handled it… my only criticism Is the look. But I am hopeful that will also improve. It’s more important right now to dial in the DAW, which they are doing exceptionally well. Take the leap my friend. You will not be disappointed!
  2. I respectfully disagree. I find cakewalk to be extremely intuitive. I have a degree in audio, and I was taught on ProTools. I was tired of the constant updates and increased pricing…that’s why I flipped. I have found Cakewalk to be very solid and extremely stable. My only complaint with the new Sonar is the look. I personally prefer the look of something like Luna. but the cakewalk/sonar workflow in my opinion is hands down the best…for what I do at least. Everyone who uses a DAW has different needs..so I guess, go with what works…
  3. That’s a drag that it doesn’t work the way you need it. It works great for my needs. When I am working with different artist at the end of the session, I can just upload it to bandlab and just send them the invite and they can obsess over the session in the car ride home.LOL they also can then open the session as a stereo file and add ideas that I can just open back up in sonar. I upload my albums for streaming services through distrokid. I don’t use the bandlab service for that. But you are correct. You do have to sign up and give your personal info.
  4. do you have the "Follow host" tab selected?
  5. i can say it runs very smooth as well and i am loving the work flow and all the new stuff they have added...still not diggin the look.. in the long run, i would rather they put all the efforts into making it work the best it can, and then hopfully working on making it look a bit better...my opinion of course.
  6. i had the same issue...and i drove me insane for 2 days...i contacted SSL and they told me to uninstall...I uninstalled and reinstalled. But you can’t use the SSL download mgr. I tried that. I have a program called Glary Utilities and I uninstalled from that. Then I restarted my computer and reinstalled the plug ins..and everything was fine.
  7. its a game changer! one of the BEST features for sure! I have turned so many people on to bandLab I might need a commission. LOL it’s a crime that more people don’t know about this.
  8. i actuall dont mind paying for it, but the looks of it are just killing me! i am not into the 2D vibe at all. i have checked out Luna, and Harrison.. i still like the workflow in sonar, but i wont pay for it if i am not diggin the way it looks. i know its about making music, but if i have to stare at something for 12+ hours sometimes, i need to be a little inspired.
  9. I do use it…and I think the workflow is fantastic. I was taught on Pro Tools, and I have also worked in studios that use Studio One and Logic Pro. I do prefer sonar (Cakewalk) and I have for years. So, if I must look at something for sometimes as much as 12+ hours a day, I would like to be somewhat inspired. And for me the 2D vibe looks cheap. Again, it’s just my opinion. I have seen plenty of people in this forum that love it. and I understand it’s very subjective. I have had professionals tell me I am crazy for using cakewalk. That’s it’s not “Pro”. I tell them they are nuts…just like some have told me I am nuts for not liking the new Sonar..LOL At this point, it will come down to the final pricing of Sonar. Then I will make my choice. Luna is becoming a strong contender as is Harrison.
  10. Yeah, I agree…Ableton is pretty bad…and yes, having 4K compatibility is pretty cool. But unfortunately, I think the new Sonar graphics are pretty hideous as well. I know it’s about making music, but I also like to be somewhat inspired by something I have to look at all day. I am pretty fascinated by why they are all excited about the 2D look.
  11. i'm with you 100% on this..i am shocked at how bad the graphics look. i went to school for audio, and learned on pro tools..but i LOVE the work flow in cakewalk and have been a user since the early sonar days....i love the look of the new Luna DAW. i hope that once sonar gets release for real, someone will make a skin for us to upload that will give it a nice vibe....
  12. i am with you! Luna looks amazing! i still love the workflow in sonar, but the look of the daw is really killing me! i am holding out hope they will have more options as far as how it looks....
  13. i have been using the SSL 12 for over a year without any issues. The 360 system is also fantastic! i am about to buy the UC1. i have seen vids online with people using it with Cakewalk even though SSL says its not supported. and i have not had any driver issues. it all work perfect.
  14. i actually love that idea! i am not an overall fan of the new look at all...the 2d thing is really not for me. i think i lacks depth..and what you added, gives it a bit.
  15. for me, i like the look of the old cakewalk. those pics are a perfect example. much more well defined and the shading shows much more detail in my opinion and it does make things look much more clear. i have been working in the beta version, and i still love the work flow but the look is killing me! i hope after they launch, that people will start making templates and that will solve my issue.
