Update to this old topic as the Faderport (Classic) is still a viable piece of equipment for the home studio.
PreSonus no longer has the required file "faderport.dll" avaible to download in order to work in Cakewalk, other than regular Mackie control.
However, Alexey Zhelezov has created a custom application called "AZSlow" that works perfectly with Faderport Classic.
