can i uninstall cakewalk by bandlab if I already installed bandlab sonar free version. I just use Sonar version now but nervous to uninstall the cakewalk.

Wow, really appreciate all of your responses. I'm coming out of live midi output of korg keyboard through Clarett into Sonar. I'm recording in mono as when I perform solo my PA is mono. When I record the midi out to audio wav. file it's for the purpose of having a backup of tracks that I normally have come off keyboard when performing live. If my keyboard tanks on stage I have these wav. backup files to save me. I'm using an old iphone to save tracks on and that goes into channel on mixer to play the mono wav. file. Works great but always a little bottom heavy compared to what comes out of keyboard. I'm sure it has something to do with the iphone quality. That being said I need to compensate when recording midi audio out into Sonar and probably EQ some of the bottom end out so when it 's played on iphone won't be so boomy. Crazy thing is I've recorded so much with outboard gear and totally know how to do it. I just need to figure out how to simply do it on DAW. Thanks in advance for helping out an old road warrior. Did try this . Recorded audio track of midi song and inserted sonitus equalizer and rolled off some of the bass. Might be good enough fix for now until I get better at it.

Thanks for response and Happy Thanksgiving. I actually have all effects and and mix totally programmed from the korg keyboard. I just want to add compression when sending finished midi song to audio track. I can route the keyboard line outs to an external compressor then into DAW and record the audio track. Was just trying to figure out how to do it within the DAW using compressor in Sonar instead of external compressor. Will be out for few days but will check in later.

Hi, I perform solo using my midi keyboard that I've programmed all the tracks and effects. Works great live. If my keyboard ever went out I always have audio files of the midi songs as backup.To make backup audio tracks from the midi I have always just played the midi tracks and route the keyboard outs to a mono audio track then export audio. Has always worked great but the mix is not as clean as the live midi out of keyboard. This brings me to my question. I would like to play the midi tracks into a mono audio track but use compressor. I attached video showing all my midi tracks being recorded to mono audio track 19. How can I add compression while recording? or do I have to bounce to audio track then add compression? record midi to mono audio track.mp4

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but slider on audio track not changing input level for for mixing to audio track. Getting input and can adjust from my focusrite Clarett volume knobs but Sonar slider and input knob have no affect on volume? Attached video. slider not affecting volume of input.mp4

saving as midi format 1

Select colors for tracks in bandlab Sonar project and saved. When I open the project later all the track colors are gone. How do you make tracks different colors and have them stay that way.

actually wasnt looking for volume automation. I just want to see all the 50's and no other events. There use to be a volume option in piano roll to select just the volume column for the notes.

Here's another one for ya. When I have a track selected and open event list there is no way to select just the volume. You can see that the volumes are there and are all 50. In event manager there is no volume to highlight . Also above the 50's you can see there is no header saying volume?

you mentioned clip lock and when I right click on the track I want in piano roll and view clip lock here's what shows. not seeing anything saying locked or unlocked. I must be missing something or misunderstanding

Thanks guys for all the input. Attached photo showing piano roll. I can select notes and everything works. Only thing is the notes dont change color. For the past 20 years all Cakewalk I've used including bandlab cakewalk always changed colors of blobs when highlighted. Since upgrading to free bandlab sonar they wont change color or shade to show you whats selected.

I'm using bandlab sonar and selected midi notes in piano roll dont change appearance or color to show what you've highlighted as they used to in older versions. Is their a setting that will work? Thanks in advance.

Hi Eric, If you highlight a track and r' click it brings up options to select different functions and thats where I access piano roll . Has always worked like that. Unfortunately shift D doesnt work and I've never messed with anything. Looks like I'm stuck as there is no way to minimize. There must be some setting somewhere but not finding it. Should be a totally simple thing as have used cakewalk and sonus for years and never had this issue. I can undock the control bar, etc. but piano roll has issues. \

Ho Reginald and thanks for getting back. I'm not having any luck. I've used Sonar for years and never had this issue. I start out with the first picture showing midi tracks and selected midi track and did r' click to go to view piano roll. It then goes to second pick which is full screen piano roll. I cant find anyway to get that screen to dock so I can see tracks. The piano roll always opened on bottom underneath tracks but that somehow changed. you mentioned the shotcut D key but I'm not sure when or where to push the D key as have tried it but nothing happens.

when i click view piano roll in a midi track its full screen. Cant drag or find a way to dock it under track screen. It used to be under my tracks and somehow it's undocked and fills up screen. There is no way to drag piano bar that i can find to undock.

so close. Was looking for Roland JV 880 .ins Hoping someone will share a generous post as did you for it.
